When was the last time you sat in a quiet place and experienced stillness?

I don't just mean feeling the stillness around you. That is important too. I'm talking about the stillness inside you.

Stillness allows for amazing insights, wisdom, and clarity.

Stillness softens your body and mind, and allows you to feel your inner power and light.

Stillness loosens your mind's grip on life dramas and opens you to the silver linings, the learnings, the joys.

Stillness uplifts you.

Stillness creates peace inside you.

All of this changes your life. Create stillness daily.

How do you get yourself into that place of inner stillness?

First. It is easiest to begin by being in a quiet still place like the forest or beside a lake first thing in the morning or inside your closet. A place where it is already quiet and still.

Then... Close your eyes to block out visual distractions.

Now feel.

Pay attention to the slow gentle things happening inside you. Like your breath or your heart beating rhythmically.

Just focus on one of those until the mind slows into stillness.

The mind will wander every now and then. That’s a given. So don’t create false expectations about performance or doing anything correctly. There is no competition here. There is no right or wrong.

There is just being. Feeling. Experiencing the quiet in a new way.

Whenever you feel overwhelmed or stuck on a problem or need to soften your mental grip on something, close your eyes in a quiet place and be still.

Watch what wondrous things arise inside you.

Need help finding stillness? I can help guide you. Message me.

Sometimes it's a challenge to teach something in an hour.

There are so many super yummy practices that help you get out of your head and listen to your inner divine self and I want to share them all, but to fit them all into a one hour class or workshop or webinar is just scratching the surface of the power of any one practice.

And so I give you an immersive experience opportunity. ...

Spend 3 hours with me this Wednesday or Sunday morning for 1/2 Day Immersive Yoga Retreat to truly experience the fullness of:

1. the power of using the breath to create calm and peace, uplift your vibe, and awaken your mind.

2. the power of sound to transform your energies, feel supported, and be transported into a meditative state allowing for deep conscious connection with the wisdom of all that is.

3. the power of release of what you hold unconsciously in your body and the opening of flow within your whole being to regain balance and harmony.

4. the power of the mind to create balance, harmony, softness, and peace.

5. the power of silence to allow the mind to go deeply within, focus wholeheartedly, and truly feel stillness.

Our bodies are remarkable. They have an intelligence of their own that is constantly trying to communicate with us. The trouble is, a lot of the time we don't listen.

We push ourselves beyond our stress point.

We push our bodies physically because we want to run just one more mile. We push our brains to concentrate harder despite mental fatigue so we can meet that deadline. We push our emotions to the brink of meltdown because we don't want others to see us as weak.

We push and when we push too hard we injure ourselves, face a need for stress leave from work, or find our emotions explode out of us in ways that hurt us or others.

Why do we ignore the signs of stress, fatigue, and imminent emotional release?

What are the signs?
- fatigue
- muscle weakness and/ or pain
- repetitive strain in joints
- adrenal fatigue causing hormonal imbalances throughout the body that show up as all sorts of health conditions
- irritability, snapping at people, frustration, anger, depression, feeling failure where failure doesn't exist

What if you paid attention to the signs of stress and consciously used tools to release the stress and restore your energies?

What if you used those tools regularly?

How would your life change?

I don't mean spending time 'chilling out'. These are usually activities that require the body and mind to be active in some way, like reading a book or watching a show.

What is needed is a tool that calms the nervous system and shuts off the brain.

I bet you think I'm going to tell you the tool is meditation, but I'm not.

The tool I'm talking about is deep relaxation of the body and then the mind and then, actually, the mind slips automatically into a meditative state. So no effort or pressure or added stress on yourself to sit and meditate.

The practice is called Yoga Nidra. It is known as yogic sleep where the body relaxes so completely that it actually falls asleep while the mind stays conscious. It's a cool feeling.

Yoga Nidra sleep is not like sleeping at night. Our bodies often do not fully relax at night as we sleep, but in Yoga Nidra sleep you consciously choose to let go of all holding. Every morsel of muscle releases. That is one of the reasons why this practice is so powerful.

And it doesn't take a lot of effort. (especially when I guide you).

So... is it time to listen to your body? Is it time to consciously nurture and restore your body's muscles, glands, and emotional balance?

Let me guide you through a Yoga Nidra practice. Wednesday July 9 at 7 pm and again Wednesday July 23 at 7 pm (ET). Online (you can cozy in your bed) or in person at my house. Plus, receive a little Reiki boost.

See for yourself how great you feel afterwards. Release that pent up stress and replace it with softness and peace.

P.S. If you are looking into meditation for beginners, I have a great 4 hour program for you. Ask me about it.

What I love most about yoga is how it makes me fell, regardless of what type of practice I am doing.

The deep steady breathing that calms my nerves and my mind and oxygenates and fills with life force.

The opening of energy centres creating a feeling of balance and contentment.

The mantras that connect my consciousness with all that is.

The movement of body that opens tissues to release pent up energies and strengthens my muscles, my courage, and my resolve.

I am grateful for these practices.

One practice that I always find very rewarding is Restorative yoga.

It is a passive practice of body and mind in that your body is supported in various positions by cushions and your only job is to relax into it, breathe, and let go.

Your body opens all on its own, at its own pace. Your breath helps calm you and breathe out the energies that release. Your mind becomes calm and relaxed.

It is quite literally restorative to your body, mind, and energies. It is an amazing feeling.

If you have Thursday evenings open in July, I invite you to join me to experience this amazing feeling. And I'll add some reiki to your experience.

Classes are pay per class. Not session. So you can sign up for 1 or 2 or all 3 dates. $30 per class + hst.

Thursdays July 10, 17, 24 from 7 - 8:30 pm. In Sandford. In person only.

Limited to only 4 people so register asap to grab a spot. It's such a powerful practice and a favoured class, it's likely to fill quickly.

Ever wonder 'what the heck is yoga nidra?'...

It is the wonderful relaxing time spent at the end of each yoga class when the teacher guides you to squeeze and release your muscles one group at a time and then leads you into peaceful meditation.

I have turned this into a one hour total immersive experience in deep relaxation as a special class.

Yoga nidra is guided deep relaxation meditation. It is meant to create such deep relaxation of muscles that the body deeply sleeps (better than you usually do any night), and to get the mind to slow down and allow peace and Zen.

I take this experience to the next level by guiding you to release the accumulated mental/ emotional stress and energies from your tissues and to embrace and absorb the high vibrations of pure light and love.

You can't go this deep in the short 5-10 min at the end of a regular yoga class.

It generally takes 20 min for the body and mind to fully let go. That is why this hour long practice is so powerful. We take our time to get into the deep states of softness and peace.

And my classes offer you a bonus of a short Reiki.

July Yoga Nidra with Reiki is: Wed July 9 & 23 at 7 pm on zoom or in person in Sandford.

Last week some friends and I saw Deva Premal and Miten live in concert.
The experience of mantra with a concert hall full of voices is the most beautiful sound!
Sooooo uplifting to the emotions, the body, and allows for deep conscious connection with the spirit within.
If there is any part of yoga you explore let it be Japa yoga - the power of sacred sound, mantra.
