Where has your path taken you?

I recently watched a webinar about creating an audiobook. While I am miles away from being ready to record my book as an audiobook, I was inspired. My inspiration was not the content of the webinar. It was the gentleman presenting it. His name is Derek Doepker and his business is helping authors publish and market their book. What popped at me was his background as a musician. His career journey started in music and he wound up in publishing and marketing. And here he was using his expertise in sound production to guide authors through the audiobook process. Once a musician always a musician was a thought I had. His brain is hardwired to hear the subtly of sound to accurately edit audiobooks, which takes some good amount of work to produce with quality.

It made me realize something interesting about myself. I have a background in Social Work. I know I use my counselling skills constantly and have since I graduated. But I suddenly had that epiphany of once a Social Worker always a Social Worker. My brain is hardwired to assess mine and other people’s experiences from a perspective of pulling together the emotional responses, thoughts, typical human behaviours, and relationship patterns, etc. to gain a big picture of what’s happening inside someone and in me. Even though my career path took me into yoga and consciousness training, I am still a Social Worker at heart and use those skills all the time.

And all of those experiences have contributed to my Self-Transformation Method for transforming emotional struggle into lasting inner peace using consciousness training tools that open your mind and increase your awareness of your inner world to empower you to choose what to change inside you.

Take a moment of reflection today. Where has your life path taken you? What foundation did you set early on that still guides your work and life today even though you are perhaps not in that line of work directly anymore?

My Classical Yoga classes are steeped in tradition - consciousness practices, breathing, holding postures, yoga nidra. On the floor yoga.

My Chair classes are the same though not on the floor. Good challenge in chair class.

Join the session anytime during the session and cost is prorated.

Mindset: Beauty vs Bah Hum Bug

Which mindset are you drawn to? Why?

Which mindset do you actually have?

Sometimes what we want is not what we embody.

For example: snow.

We, here in parts of Ontario, have had snow since the end of Nov. It's unusual for us to get it in this quantity, this early in the season, and to have it stay on the ground. Often we wonder if we will have a white Christmas at all.

When you look at all this snow (or for those of you with other types of weather... all your rain or heat), what do you feel? What do you see? What mindset do you choose to have? Beauty or Bah Hum Bug.

Or... perhaps you are oblivious to your mindset. That's pretty natural.

I look at the snow and see so much beauty it warms my heart. Sure, I don't like to drive in it or experience frozen fingers. But why would I let those aspects of winter deter me from feeling uplifted?

I hear your grumbling... "ugh, shoveling all that snow takes all the beauty out of it". Really? Why? Why would you let an activity steel all your joy?

Why not focus on the crisp fresh air your lungs are taking in that is great for you health and the movement of your body that is strengthening your muscles and your heart? Will you see the beauty then?

Mindset.

I bring this to your awareness to illustrate how being aware of your mindset empowers you to uplift your emotions. If you have been unaware of your mindset and feeling Bah Hum Bug, ask yourself, "what mindset do I want?" Then CHOOSE. Be empowered to choose your experience.

Tis the season... I keep saying that about everything. I've been amusing myself.

Tis the season for socks.

Tis the season for shoveling.

Tis the season for frantic shopping.

The most important one though is:
Tis the season for deep rest. We NEED it more this time of year than any other time.

With the extra tasks of preparing for Christmas on top of our regular task load (which is already overflowing), the need for self care is imperative!

If you wait til after all the mad rush of the holiday season it could be too late.

How often do you get sick just after Christmas because you have run yourself into the ground with busyness?

Seriously... Tis the season for deep rest.

Take a time out - just an hour - to engage in deep relaxation meditation aka Yoga Nidra. This is seriously the best practice in the world for deep rest.

You may have experienced just a small taste of it during a yoga class - it is the relaxation time spent at the end of every class. But it takes an average of 20 minutes to get into the true deep state of full relaxation.

This Friday eve at 7 pm and again on Fri Dec 18, join me on zoom or come in person, to experience a full hour of Yoga Nidra and be guided into that deep state of full relaxation.

It is both physical and mental total release and creates a sensation of pure peace inside you.

That is no exaggeration.

Our Story

Susan Ward is proud to have opened her NEW Yoga Studio in Uxbridge! This new location features plenty of free parking and elevator access to her beautiful studio space on the second floor of the Campbell Drive Professional Building.

Susan has over 12 years of experience teaching groups of all sizes and has taught classes at various locations in the area during those years including Sandford, Zephyr Hall, studio space she had on Brock St. for 3 years, Uxpool, Vitality Yoga, and DanceBridge Dance Studio.

In her bright new & inviting Yoga Studio at 2 Campbell Dr. Ste 201, in Uxbridge, Susan offers both group & private sessions. Classes are offered throughout the week, both during the day & in the evenings, for all skill levels. Sessions include Classical Yoga, Chair Yoga, The 5 Tibetans, Meditation, Yoga Nidra with Reiki, Restorative Yoga with Reiki as well as special 1/2 Day Retreats. Susan also offers fellow yoga teachers to use the studio to offer classes. Currently you can find Prenatal Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Beginner, and Restorative Yoga offered by these wonderful ladies. Lots of awesome events are planned regularly and specialty classes and workshops grace the schedule often as well.

Finding peace and stillness, stepping out of life’s dramas and busy schedules to take time to nurture the self/ Self is truly a goal for Susan’s classes, retreats and offerings.
