Landing in Holland by Emily Perl Kingsley is a beautiful perceptive on how some parents feel about the journey they are travelling with their child since learning of their exceptionalities. It can be a way to explain their journey to someone unfamiliar with their travels.

Will is resonate with every parent's journey? Absolutely not and that's okay!

Have a read through and share your thoughts below.

Doctor visits, dentist visits, and haircuts can be very challenging when your child doesn’t know what to expect (or knows exactly what to expect)
Preparing using play can be a great way to prepare them for what to expect. It’s also a great way to add a bit of fun into an otherwise scary situation.

• A teddy bear makes a great patient when a check-up is needed.
• A favourite stuffy with an open mouth can be today’s dental patient.
• A doll is an excellent model for a haircut.

If you don’t have toy play sets at home, don't fret. You can use things you already have around your house to practice.

• Doctor play: Tape a string to a bottle cap and tie it into the middle of a U-shaped head band (stethoscope); a medical syringe (needle); Band-aids; thermometer

• Dentist play: toothbrush (electric is better to mimic real tools); floss

• Haircut play: towel; spray bottle; comb; toy scissors; hair clippers with a blade cover; gel/hairspray

Message us If you’d like some extra guidance on how to structure your play, or if your unsure how to move from play to the real experience.
