Stretching promotes flexibility & helps your joints maintain a healthy range of motion - and in doing so, it also lowers the chance of joint and muscle pain.

But how often should you stretch? How long should you hold the stretch? And how many times should you do each stretch?

A panel of experts convened by the American College of Sports Medicine ACSM reviewed a wide range of studies to help answer these questions. Based on the evidence the panel agreed that:

- Healthy adults should do flexibility exercises like stretching, yoga or Tai chi for all major muscle-tendon groups - neck, shoulders, chest, trunk, lower back, hips, legs and ankles - at least 2 to 3 times a week
- For optimal results you should spend a total of 60 seconds on each stretching exercise. So if you can hold a particular stretch for 15 seconds, repeating it 3 more times would be ideal. If you can hold the stretch for 20 seconds, 2 more repetitions would do the trick.

What's in my water?

This is what WebMD says about it.
Also can read the article here:

https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-1320/fulvic-acid

🔬 What is it?
Fulvic acid is group of chemicals formed when plants and animals break down. It is found in the humus (organic matter) part of soil and peat, and is also found in streams and lakes.

Fulvic and humic acids are soil based probiotics which contain over 72 trace minerals, such as zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, peptides (amino acids), nucleic acids, and silica. These minerals all play important roles your body’s health and overall function.

Currently, there are no scientific studies to support the benefits outlined here, similar to other natural compounds used.

❗Fulvic and humic acid claimed/potential benefits:

▪︎May reduce inflammation and boost immunity
▪︎May protect brain function
▪︎Improve gut health
▪︎Improve cellular function
▪︎Improve skin health and boost collagen formation
▪︎May have anticancer properties
▪︎May boost testosterone
▪︎May improve muscle strength
▪︎May lower cholesterol

CAUTION:
Autoimmune diseases: Fulvic acid might increase the activity of the immune system. It might therefore worsen some autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). People with these conditions should be cautious or avoid fulvic acid altogether.

Feeling tired & run down? Try the following tips to get your energy back.

1️⃣ Go to bed before 10:30 p.m.

2️⃣ Do light exercise every day such as yoga, Tai chi, stretching, Pilates and walking

3️⃣ Avoid coffee or limit to 1 cup daily; drink herbal teas like green tea, chamomile, peppermint.

4️⃣ Use sea salt on your food and eat kelp and green and black olives. Salt cravings such as chips, is usually a sign of adrenal dysfunction.

5️⃣ Consume foods with a low glycemic index

6️⃣ Do not eat fruit on its own in the morning without adequate protein as it raises blood sugar and insulin, disrupts serotonin and increases cortisol.

7️⃣ Include essential fatty acids from flax seed, fish, evening primerose oil or borage oil, avocados, and coconut oil

8️⃣ Take digestive enzymes with your meal and chew your food well before swallowing

9️⃣ Herbs like ashwagandha, rhodiola, Siberian ginseng, schisandra, along with a good multivitamin with minerals will help nourish and support adrenals.

Have you already tried all these and still tired? Book in a free 15 minute Complimentary consultation to chat about other options for you.

All carbohydrates are not created equal. Different sources of carbohydrates have their own unique effects on insulin and blood sugar. Some carbohydrates, such as sugar-coated corn flakes, produce an immediate and dramatic rise in blood sugar, resulting in very high levels of insulin. It is important to keep insulin levels low enough not to stimulate excess appetite.

❗Remember: it's not just the quality and quantity of the carbohydrates you are ingesting, but what time you're eating your carbs!
Carb Clock ⏰ helps you remember when to eat which carbs.
The key is to remember that:

1️⃣ The cut of time is about 5:00 p.m.

2️⃣ Fruits & vegetables may be eaten before & after 5:00 p.m.

3️⃣ Carbs from grains should be eaten primarily before 5:00 p.m. and should generally not be included for dinner, except perhaps once per week

After the age of 40 is imperative that we realize that carbohydrates ingestion involves some real thought. We no longer need the intense carb fuelling we used to need when we played field hockey or spent half the afternoon jumping rope. We are metabolically different and we must embrace eating behavior more appropriate for our age and for our gender.

📚 Resource: You can refer to the Glycemic Index of foods and chose accordingly. You want to pick foods with glycemic index below 70, ideally below 55.

**if you have diabetes or other medical conditions please work with your doctor on establishing a healthy eating plan tailored for you.

CortiZone - period of time between 3:00 p.m. and midnight

CortiZone is the time when stress hormone levels plummet and mindless and focused stress-driven eating dominates, guaranteeing weight gain, especially in women 40 and over.

During the CortiZone hours, any person is a great risk of stress-induced eating. 🤯 As focus, concentration and mindfulness decline, fatigue sets in. Instead of recognizing the decline in energy as a natural daily event, most people fight it. Desperately seeking energy, they gulp coffee and eat foods high in sugar🍫 and other stimulants in the hope of resurrecting their energy.

In today's busy daily life we no longer live by our natural stress hormone biorhythm. Instead, just at the time of day when we should be allowing ourselves to begin to rest, we start up yet another day's worth of errands, projects, activities and challenges.
