When you’ve worked so hard to succeed… but the wins don’t feel like anything at all?

That’s not failure.
That’s your nervous system doing what it learned to do: protect you from overwhelm.

For many high-achieving women, emotional numbness isn’t a sign of being ungrateful, cold, or disconnected.
It’s a survival strategy — one that often began long before the career milestones ever came.

When emotions felt unsafe, unwelcomed, or “too much” growing up, the brain adapted.
It turned down the volume on all feelings, not just the hard ones.

And while that numbing may have helped you power through hard seasons, it’s now standing in the way of joy, satisfaction, and connection.

But here’s the truth:
You’re not broken.
Your body just needs help learning how to feel again.

In therapy, we help clients gently reconnect with the parts of them that had to go numb to survive — and teach their nervous systems that it’s safe to feel now.

You don’t have to choose between success and emotional aliveness.
You can have both.

Want support reconnecting to your emotions? We’re here when you’re ready.

Ever feel like you’re constantly trying to be perfect, but still feel like you’re falling short?

That’s not failure. That’s a part of you doing everything it can to keep you safe.

We see this all the time in therapy with high-achieving women. The perfectionist part shows up strong — on the outside, you’re polished and in control. But inside? There’s often a younger version of you still carrying the weight of old messages.
Messages like:
“If I mess up, I won’t be loved.”
“If I’m not perfect, I’ll be rejected.”

That perfectionist isn’t your enemy. She’s a protector. And she’s probably exhausted.

Parts Work allows us to understand these internal dynamics with compassion. To stop the inner tug-of-war and start creating internal calm.

You’re not broken. You’re beautifully complex.

And all of your parts are just trying to help you survive the best way they know how.

Hi, Gabriella here - founder of The Trauma Therapy Group and mom of two.

Running a therapy practice while trying to be a present, regulated parent can stretch you thin in ways no one prepares you for.

This month, I’m choosing softer goals. Ones that support my nervous system, not just my productivity.

Do we share any of these intentions? What are you adding to the list?

Healing trauma isn’t just about fewer flashbacks, it’s about feeling safer in your relationships.

A recent pilot study found something powerful: EMDR therapy doesn’t just reduce PTSD and CPTSD symptoms, it also helps shift attachment patterns.

✨ From insecure to secure.
✨ From guarded to grounded.
✨ From self-protecting to self-trusting.

That means:
🌱 Healthier boundaries
🌱 More emotional safety
🌱 Deeper, more nourishing relationships

We’ve seen this in our work too. When the nervous system feels safe, connection starts to feel possible again.

Ready to experience what healing in connection can look like?
Group trauma therapy with EMDR might be the next step for you.

💬 Have you noticed changes in how you connect as you heal? We’d love to hear your story below

Chronic pain and trauma might be more connected than you think.

A clinical review of EMDR therapy found something surprising: it’s not just effective for emotional healing, it may also reduce physical pain.

Across studies on migraines, back pain, phantom limb pain, and even rheumatoid arthritis, EMDR showed promise in lowering:
✅ Pain intensity
✅ Medical visits
✅ Emotional stress linked to the pain cycle

The theory? EMDR helps calm the nervous system and release stored stress signals that amplify pain.

🧠 It’s not saying the pain is “in your head”, it’s saying your nervous system might be holding more than just memories.

Research is still developing, most studies are small. But the potential? Huge.

“What does real trauma-informed care feel like?”
Gentle. Grounded. Designed around you.
[ 👈 follow for therapy that meets your nervous system where it’s at]

If you’ve ever walked into therapy and felt like you had to perform healing, this is your permission slip to breathe.

Trauma-informed care isn’t about pushing or fixing.
It’s about slowing down enough to hear what your body’s been trying to say all along.

Here’s what it looks like with us:

🌱 We start from wherever you are, not where anyone thinks you “should” be
💭 We listen to your body, not just your words
🎯 You get to choose what feels safe, moment by moment
🧠 We honour your responses as wise, not wrong
💫 And when your system feels safe enough… the real healing begins

This is therapy that meets you with compassion, not pressure.
And it’s powerful, not because we push, but because we don’t.

✨ Curious what this could feel like for you?

Comment “HEALING” and we’ll send you info about starting therapy that honours your nervous system.

If slowing down feels impossible, this is for you.

We hear it all the time from women:
“I just don’t have time to work on feeling safer in my body.”

Here’s a 5-day, 5-minute challenge that could shift how connected and grounded you feel in your own skin:

🌟 Day 1 - Notice your breath without changing it
🌟 Day 2 - Do a gentle body scan from head to toe
🌟 Day 3 - Practice saying “I’m safe right now” while touching your heart
🌟 Day 4 - Move your body in a way that feels good (stretch, dance, walk)
🌟 Day 5 - Find three things you can see, hear, and feel around you

Little shifts in nervous system regulation can create ripple effects that lead to feeling genuinely secure. We’ve seen clients start with these simple practices and build toward profound inner safety and self-trust 💫

Don’t underestimate the power of 5 minutes of intentional nervous system care. Your body has been waiting for this attention.

So, are you in? 🔥

EMDR for complex PTSD? Here’s what the research shows 👇

A review of 13 clinical studies found that EMDR therapy significantly helped reduce:

✅ PTSD symptoms
✅ Dissociation
✅ Depression
✅ Somatic distress

…in adults with complex trauma histories.

🧠 For those navigating C-PTSD, this confirms something powerful: EMDR can support more than just flashbacks. It can help shift deeper nervous system patterns — especially when paired with safety, pacing, and trauma-informed care.

No method works in isolation, but EMDR is a strong, evidence-based option for those ready to do the work with support.

Is EMDR Therapy the right next step in your healing? Ask yourself these 5 questions 👇

We often hear this from high-achieving women:
“I know I need support… but how do I know if EMDR is right for me right now?”

Here’s what we tell them: EMDR isn’t just for people with “big T” trauma, it’s for anyone carrying unresolved experiences their body is still reacting to.
That inner tension, anxiety without a clear reason, or the persistent feeling of “not enough”?
Those are signs your nervous system may be holding onto something it never had the chance to process.

Here’s what makes EMDR powerful:

✨ You don’t have to retell every detail, your system does the healing, naturally.
✨ It supports emotional integration without needing to intellectualize every step.
✨ It meets your body where it’s at, helping it release what’s been stuck.

That said, EMDR works best when you’re in a season of enough safety and support to explore what’s been buried, not when you’re still deep in survival mode.

These 5 questions will help you get clear on whether your nervous system is ready for this kind of work.

📌 Save this post to revisit as you explore your next steps.

Before we set that boundary or say no to someone we love, we have this ritual – it’s our little toolkit of gentle reminders for those people-pleasing moments. Here it is, for all you gorgeous women needing extra softness with yourselves:

✅ I can care about them and still honour myself
✅ I can be loving without losing myself
✅ My needs are valid too
✅ Authenticity serves everyone better
✅ I’m safe even when others feel disappointed
✅ This uncomfortable feeling is temporary

Now, if we had to choose the most essential? It’s got to be “I can care about them and still honour myself.” There’s something about acknowledging that love and boundaries can coexist that just shifts everything for our nervous system.

Whether you’re saying no to extra work, setting limits with family, or simply choosing yourself for once, these reminders can be total game changers. They were for us.

Your body learned that disappointing people meant losing love, but that’s not true anymore. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is show up authentically – even when it feels scary.

Which of these hits home for you? Or do you have your own go-to gentle phrase for people-pleasing moments?

👉 Drop a comment with your favourite! We love hearing what brings you back to yourself, beautiful humans.

Double tap if you’ve ever felt like your worth was tied to your to-do list

As trauma therapists, we see this pattern often in high-achieving women - the constant doing, achieving, and proving as a way to feel safe in the world. But here’s what we want you to know: that little girl who learned she had to earn her worth? She did the best she could with what she knew then.

Now, you can learn new ways to feel safe and worthy that don’t require constant doing. Your nervous system can learn that rest isn’t just safe - it’s necessary.
