September is the month where we come together to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around dementia. This year's campaign, ‘Never too early, never too late’, focuses on risk factors and the crucial role of risk reduction in staving off, delaying or potentially even preventing Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

*Exercising your mind daily can keep your brain stimulated and can delay the onset of dementia.

*Socialization improves mood, cognition, memory recall, and is associated with healthy behaviors, brain games and physical exercise.

** Balance between mind body and spirit is the key to a healthy life**

It's not just about staying physically active, although that's crucial for maintaining mobility and strength; it's also about nurturing mental and emotional well-being.

Finding time for relaxation, engaging in stimulating activities, and fostering strong social connections become essential components in elder years.

The key lies in achieving harmony between these facets of life, recognizing that each contributes to overall wellness.

By embracing this holistic approach, our loved ones can lead fulfilling lives where they not only juggle many things but do so with grace and vitality.

Come and talk with me about balance and well-being!

Today, I'm sharing this photo taken in the serene embrace of the mountains. The tranquility and awe-inspiring beauty of nature reminds us of the incredible gift of life itself. Just as we find strength in the mountains, let us find strength in each other.

** Counselling for Seniors and guidance for adult children **

Although therapy has grown in popularity, mental health care is still stigmatized, and it can be especially uncomfortable for those who came of age when seeking treatment for mental health problems was less socially acceptable.

Despite the positives, many aging parents and family members who might benefit from seeing a counsellor are still reluctant to go. Many adult children know all too well how difficult it can be to convince these loved ones to make their mental health a priority and to assure them that they can do so without facing judgment or shame, losing their right to privacy or sacrificing their personal boundaries.

If you’re struggling to convince a parent or older loved one to take the first step and give counselling a try, contact me how to guide and encourage them to get the care they need.

*Stay in the Present moment*

Living in the moment is being aware of the moment we are in. If our minds are in the past or future, we are not truly alive in the present - Satsuki Shibuya

Given the fast pace and hectic schedules most of us keep, a base level of anxiety, stress, and unhappiness is the new norm. You may not even realize it, but this tendency to get sucked into the past and the future can leave you perpetually worn out and feeling out of touch with yourself.

Contact me for a quick and simple Mindfulness Meditation that you can do daily.

Relax into your weekend!

When things feel too overwhelming
remember

Take a breath

One Day at a time
One task at a time
One thought at a time
One moment at a time

Take a moment to notice you are grounded in the present moment, not thinking about the future, not worrying about the past.
Know that you are most yourself when you are in the present
moment.🙏
