We activate this holistic practice through breath, meditation, movement, spirituality & the sciences of mind and body. Eda is a Movement & Wellness Coach, Health & Wellness Program Designer, Health Link Coordinator, Vinyasa Yoga Instructor, Meridian Yoga Therapist, Meditation Instructor, and Sufi whirling dervish. She is a facilitator of various programs, Community Developer and Compassionate Listening Project Assistant. She has always found healing and communion with the Divine through intentional living, movement, meditation, and music. Eda was born in Konya, Turkey where the mystic poet Rumi lived, loved, and passed. She has been a lifelong student of Sufi teachings and meditations; embodying love, compassion, and service to the Divine and all beings, everywhere. It’s her passion, her drive, and her service to the higher purpose. As a yoga instructor, Eda consciously weaves Eastern & Western practices to design each class as a unique experience. She centers her students to the present moment to support them in unpacking, witnessing, and connecting with their inner healer – while discovering and cultivating strength and resilience within themselves. Her students experience feeling energized, empowered, grounded, and better connected with their inner self, their body and higher purpose. Ertan is committed to serving humanity as a Human Rights Activist by representing marginalized voices on decision making tables, promoting equity in health care and improving access to primary care and social services. She advocated for marginalized populations with the Ministry of Health and led the design and development of an inclusive Community Health Centre in Vancouver, BC with no barriers to healthcare. Ertan is dedicated to influencing non-profit organizations to be anti-racist; structurally and in-practice. She is the co-founder of the Antiracism & Equity Committee at Collingwood Neighbourhood House and is a Member at Justice, Equity Diversity & Inclusion Network at Vantage Point. She studied, worked, witnessed and continue to learn the long term health impacts of racism, discrimination and the misuse of authority while recognizing the direct correlations between extreme stress, depression, shock and trauma to overall healthy living and aging. She is determined to working towards improving systems to support all humans in having equitable access to health and social services. Eda works with the links between social determinants of health and holistic health while focusing on the importance of sustainable healthy habits and lifestyles that directly influence the mental health and wellbeing of humans. At the intersection of her academic education in Psychology & Health Sciences and her passionate pursuit of holistic health, Eda discovered the innate potential of an individual's heart, mind, body, and soul to heal the whole-self. To enrich her yoga classes and other offerings, Eda constantly expands and deepens her knowledge through her connections with mentors and studies in neuroscience, psychology, human anatomy, and various ancient healing practices.
