Prevent Billing Fraud: Practice Tips

College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC has published practice tips for RMTs to protect their registration number and prevent billing fraud:

1. Regularly Monitor Billing Activity
Routinely review your billing records from employers and insurers to catch any discrepancies.

2. Share Your Registration Number Carefully
Be diligent when sharing your registration number for billing or administrative tasks to prevent misuse. Your registration number should not be published on public websites or marketing materials.

3. Maintain Accurate Documentation
Keep thorough records of patient details, financial transactions, and appointment logs. This ensures you have the necessary information for verification when required.

4. Keep Practice Information Updated
Promptly notify all insurance companies, including ICBC and MSP, of any changes to practice locations, and the last day of service billed at that location.
