We’ve seen government-licensed cannabis boasting THC numbers above 30% for flower—but here’s the real story: while high-THC strains exist, cannabis flower rarely reaches those levels naturally. Some lab results may be influenced by inconsistencies in testing methods, conversion factors, and sampling techniques, sometimes leading to inflated potency numbers.

Industry experts suggest that variations in drying, sampling, and lab procedures can contribute to discrepancies, meaning those high THC numbers don’t always reflect the actual quality or experience of the plant. Despite this, many licensed producers prioritize THC testing while doing minimal testing for overall quality—leaving freshness, terpene content, and smoking experience as an afterthought.

At our store, we take a different approach—one that prioritizes real quality over misleading numbers. We partner with small-batch growers who cultivate cannabis with care, preserving the natural flavors, aromas, and effects you actually want.

Lab testing plays an important role in the industry, but it also has challenges. It can be expensive, and the process takes time—during which cannabis continues to dry out, potentially affecting freshness and overall quality. By the time it reaches you, it may not be the same flower that was originally tested.

That’s not a trade-off we’re willing to make. We enforce strict in-house protocols to ensure top-tier quality and safety. Every batch is microscopically examined for mites, mold, and contaminants. We perform burn tests to check for residuals or improper flushing and rely on taste and aroma to ensure you’re getting the best possible flower.

Quality should always come first! 💚🌱✨

Health Canada acknowledges cannabis’ role in managing opioid withdrawal and dependency, but the City of Vancouver’s actions speak louder than their words. They prevent dispensaries from operating in the Downtown Eastside due to zoning which is denying patients access to safer alternatives to opioids.

The evidence is clear: Cannabis is a powerful tool in opioid replacement. By shutting down dispensaries like ours, the city undermines harm reduction efforts and puts lives at risk. It's time for the city to move from talking to action, allowing access to cannabis where it’s needed most.

The City of Vancouver has even recognized cannabis as an alternative to opioids in their report, "Cannabis as an Alternative to Opiates and More Dangerous Drugs." Despite this, they continue to block dispensaries in the Downtown Eastside, leaving vulnerable people without safer options.

Additionally, due to the raid on January 29th, Get Your Drugs Tested (GYDT) was forced to temporarily close as it relies on our funding. GYDT, one of the busiest free drug-checking sites in the world, receives no government funding, yet plays a critical role in harm reduction. The city’s actions undermine these life-saving services.

It’s time for change. Access to cannabis should not be restricted in neighborhoods hit hardest by the opioid crisis. The city must stop blocking dispensaries and start allowing patients access to life-saving medicine.

Want to support? Contact Vancouver city officials and demand better access to medical cannabis. Shop at our storefronts to help fund life-saving services like Get Your Drugs Tested, and support harm reduction efforts.

🌿 1 in 3 medical cannabis users report reducing opioid use 💊

At The Medicinal Cannabis Dispensary, we’ve seen firsthand the life-changing impact that medicinal cannabis can have for patients battling chronic pain, anxiety, and other health conditions. More and more people are turning to cannabis as a safer alternative to dangerous opioids—and the numbers don’t lie.

But it’s not just about statistics—it’s about real people in our community who are seeking safe, effective options. Our dispensary is here to provide high-potency, specialized cannabis products that many patients can’t find through the licensed market. This isn’t just a business; it’s a lifeline for those who need it most.

🚨 Why are we under attack? On January 29th, 2025, our dispensary was raided by the Vancouver Police and the Community Safety Unit. This is just one example of a broken system that punishes us for providing the compassionate care that so many patients rely on. We are not backing down. We’re standing up for the access to quality cannabis that our patients deserve.

This raid is a clear reminder of why we need change in the cannabis system—patients are being left behind, forced to turn to unregulated markets to get the relief they need. We need more than legalization; we need a system that meets the needs of real medical patients—and not just corporate interests.

Do you want to support? This is how you can do it ⬇️

1️⃣ Shop with us: Every purchase supports safe cannabis access and life-saving harm reduction programs like Get Your Drugs Tested (GYDT).

2️⃣ Call city officials: Demand they protect patients and end the raids on our dispensaries.

3️⃣ Donate to GYDT: Your support helps keep drug-checking services free and accessible to those who need them.

Vancouver's zoning laws prevent dispensaries like ours from operating in the Downtown Eastside, despite the overwhelming need for cannabis. The government's reasoning? A desire to control cannabis access and keep it out of certain neighborhoods. But for patients in low-income areas, this isn’t just a matter of convenience—it’s a matter of life and death.

Many of the people in this neighborhood are struggling with addiction, chronic pain, mental health issues, and poverty. Cannabis has proven to be a safer, more effective alternative to opioids for pain management and addiction treatment, yet the city continues to block access to this vital medicine.

We have two locations, one in the DTES at 649 E Hastings Street open everyday from 11am to 7pm. Despite being raided on January 29th 2025, we are still open providing this necessary medicine. By denying dispensaries like ours in these areas, the government is essentially cutting off access to affordable, life-saving options for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

It’s time for policies that reflect compassion, not control. We need to create a system that prioritizes the well-being of people who need access to cannabis, especially those struggling with opioid addiction and chronic pain.

We need your help to put pressure on Vancouver city officials to stop the raids and provide real access to high-dose, high-quality cannabis for medical patients. Let them know that compassionate care should always come before control. Contact your local representatives and demand that they stop blocking dispensaries in the Downtown Eastside, and push for policies that prioritize patient health, not corporate interests. Every voice counts in this fight for access and fairness.

As many of you know, we’ve been proudly serving the community since 2008, providing safe, reliable, and high-quality medicinal cannabis to those who need it most. However, on January 29th, 2025, our dispensary was raided by the city, disrupting our ability to serve our loyal patients and highlighting a larger issue affecting the entire medicinal cannabis landscape.

The reality is, despite legalization, 46% of medical cannabis patients in Canada still rely on the grey market. Why? Because high-dose and high-quality medical cannabis options are not readily available in the legal market. This isn’t just a minor inconvenience—it’s a critical issue that leaves many patients struggling to access the medication they rely on to manage their health.

Why this matters 🚨‼️
Legal dispensaries often don’t carry the full range of products patients need, especially higher potency or specific doses, and many legal cannabis options remain too expensive. While the legal market also struggles to provide consistent, reliable products that meet patients’ medical needs.

As a result, patients who depend on medicinal cannabis for things like chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, and other serious conditions are left without the safe and effective medicine they deserve.

What you can do 💪🗣️
Reach out to local representatives to demand better access to high-quality, affordable medicinal cannabis, support patient-centered businesses like ours to help advocate for more accessible cannabis, and share your experiences to raise awareness about the barriers patients face in the legal market.

We believe that access to high-quality medicinal cannabis should never be a struggle—and we’ll continue to fight for the change that’s needed to ensure all patients can get the care they deserve. 💚

Raids on dispensaries like ours are about more than just inventory or legality—they are deeply political. Every time the Vancouver Police Department, in coordination with the Community Safety Unit, come to our doors, they participate in a broader political game that seeks to control cannabis consumption and access.

Why do these raids happen?

Raids often coincide with political moments, especially when harm reduction policies or cannabis use are under public scrutiny. Dispensaries like ours, which provide affordable high potency products to a vulnerable community, are caught in the crossfire of political maneuvering. While local politicians seek to position themselves as “tough on crime,” it’s communities like ours that bear the brunt of these actions.

These raids don’t just inconvenience us—they undermine critical harm reduction work. Our Get Your Drugs Tested (GYDT) program has saved lives by providing users with essential information about what’s in the substances they’re consuming. These raids jeopardize that service, leaving our community at greater risk.

We won’t be silenced. These raids aren’t just about lost products; they are an attack on our mission to provide compassionate care and safety. We need to challenge these political games and push for a system that prioritizes health, safety, and community well-being.

Get involved. Demand our the Vancouver City Council by calling or writing them, tell them to stop the raids! Stand with us in the fight for access to safe, compassionate care!

Why? Potency caps set by the government make it tough for patients to access the products that actually work for them. When it comes to your medicine, we believe you shouldn’t be limited by these restrictions.

At The Medicinal Cannabis Dispensary, we offer real choices, with a range of products to help you find what’s right for you—from low to high potency.

Cannabis medicine isn’t “one size fits all.” Potency caps are a direct threat to patient care.

While the legal cannabis market has introduced standardized regulations on potency—often capping THC levels in products—these caps limit patients' ability to access the medicine that works best for them. For some patients, higher-potency edibles or concentrated cannabis products are necessary to manage pain, anxiety, or other chronic conditions. Without these products, many are left with options that don't provide the same relief.

The reality is, the cannabis market needs flexibility, not restrictions. When patients need stronger products, potency caps stand in the way of healing. These limits force patients into a position where they either accept less effective products or turn to unregulated sources for what they need—both dangerous options.

We believe in patient-centered care. Our dispensary offers products with the potency levels patients need to benefit from cannabis medicine. Removing these caps would allow cannabis to be the healing tool it’s meant to be.

Support dispensaries like ours who are putting our community first by contacting the Vancouver City Council and tell them to stop the raids on TMCD!
