SE Diversity Scholarship Vancouver We are a group of Somatic Experiencing Practitioners who are working to fundraise money for BIPOC

We heard Beginner I of the Vancouver SE training was astounding for many reasons including the calibre of students, the ongoing honouring of the lands on which we practice and live, the depth of learning and connections, and most of all the diversity of the students and assistants in the room. The teachings went beyond the lectures and the practices.

We deeply appreciate the support we have received so far and our work is not done. The students have numerous modules ahead of them and we are still seeking donations to see them through to the end. Consider your donation a yes to seeing more diversity in the field of Somatic Experiencing.

Did you receive a rebate for your ICBC automobile insurance and don't know what to do with it? We can help make that an easy decision. Consider donating your refund to the SE BC/Yukon Diversity fundraising campaign for the upcoming Vancouver SE training! This initiative was developed to support BIPOC students in attending the training and diversifying our group of SE practitioners in BC. Put your money into action against racism!

Thank you to all those who have supported this fundraising initiative!! So far we have raised $5450 towards tuition costs for BIPOC students starting their Somatic Experiencing training in May 2021 in Vancouver.

We will be continuing to work to generate funds to meet our $20,000 goal in order to support students throughout the 3 year training. Please share this page with anyone you think may be interested in what we are doing and stay tuned for more fundraising updates and ways you can be involved in supporting these students! 😊

We believe that Somatic Experiencing is a powerful way to support people who have experienced trauma and increasing diversity and accessibility is so important in our therapeutic community. 💗💗💗

Fellow SE enthusiasts and supporters; we need your help.

Do you want to be a better ally to Black, Indigenous and People of Color?

This is your opportunity to step up and contribute to a scholarship to create a more diverse and inclusive Somatic Experiencingâ„¢ (SE) community. Being an ally means moving out of your comfort zone and taking a stand to support an underrepresented population.

We are a group of Somatic Experiencing Practitioners (SEPs) who are establishing a BIPOC scholarship fund for the upcoming Vancouver 2021 SE Professional Training starting May 2021. We are seeking your support to help us reach our funding goal.

Our aim is to raise $20,000 to support SE students who identify as BIPOC and who require financial support to attend the training. 100% of money raised will go towards tuition. A committee of BIPOC representatives will review the scholarship applications.

Our challenge to you is to think big…what can you contribute? A day of session fees? A half day? An hour? Contributions of any amount are welcome.

We believe that diversity and inclusion are important in the SE community. Why? Because research shows that trust, safety, and connection in the therapeutic relationship are more easily established for Black, Indigenous and People of Color when the therapist shares their cultural and/or ethnic background. And because we all have something to gain from being part of a more diverse community.

Your support means a BIPOC client who has been underserved because the service has not felt culturally relevant, or because racism thwarted their attempts at healing will have a better chance of connecting with culturally appropriate therapeutic services. And SE students and professionals from all walks of life will have an opportunity for increasing their cultural competence. Given the current social and political climate of overt racism across North America, this feels more important than ever.

SE is currently taught and used by health and social professionals in over 40 countries in the world. As SEP’s, we believe in the power and effectiveness of Somatic Experiencing™ to support trauma healing regardless of race or ethnicity.

Thanks for stepping up to be part of the solution!
