Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a gentle holistic manual therapy that assesses the entire body to look for the root cause of a person’s concerns.
Osteo assessment and treatment will include all systems including the organs and the head and how they could be affecting a person’s pain. Evaluation is completed using a hands-on approach, like palpation, to detect changes in your tissues. They look for signs of rigidity, congestion, stiffness, density, and resiliency to determine which systems or tissues are the primary causes of dysfunction. From there, the osteopath and patient will formulate a customized treatment plan to best address these needs.
Treatments can include gentle joint and visceral manipulations, craniosacral techniques, and myofascial release. This helps balance the nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems, improve range of motion, and decrease discomfort or other symptoms. The goal of treatment is to increase mobility to restore blood, nervous, and lymph flow.
Some common conditions treated by Osteopathy are: neck and back pain, sciatica, migraines, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic fatigue, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, whiplash, post-operative pain and adhesions, tendonitis, cramps, nausea, intestinal pain, and respiratory issues (i.e. asthma).
