🩸PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma most commonly used in sport injuries and Orthopaedic medicine . PRP involves using a patient’s blood plasma, which contains a high concentration of platelets, growth factors, and other bioactive proteins, to promote tissue repair and regeneration.
Here’s how it typically works:

1) Blood Collection: about 80 ml of blood is taken

2) Centrifugation: The blood sample is then placed in a centrifuge, a machine that spins rapidly to separate its components. This process separates the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components.

3) Injections : The concentrated platelet-rich plasma is then injected under ultrasound guidance directly into the targeted joint, tendon or ligament.

Once injected, the growth factors and other bioactive proteins in PRP stimulate tissue repair and blood vessel formation, promoting healing and regeneration. In orthopaedics, PRP injections are often used to treat various musculoskeletal conditions, such as tendonitis, ligament injuries, and osteoarthritis.
