THIS WEEKEND have a fun night out (or in) at Maamawi!

Based on stories shared by Anishnaabe Elder, Gloria May Eshkibok, and utilising the concept of the “Mino Bimaadiziwin” pillars of Anishnaabe culture, two dancers duet within a beautiful virtual environment generated in Unreal Engine as their dance is tracked with live motion capture technology. They embody the Wolf and the Eagle who appear as live avatars within the world; while a third dancer narrates the journey we take through the seven prophecies.

200 years in the future, what will your descendants remember about you?

What are your dreams for the future?

What do we need to be good ancestors?

Join us at Maamawi on the 17th and 18th of May, as we braid the dreams of past, present, and future into a post-apocalyptic landscape. An expression of the Anishinaabe Seven Fires Prophecies, as shared by Anishinaabe Elder, Gloria May Eshkibok, Maamawi (ᒫᒪᐏ) imbues us with heart-light, stewarded by the Original Ones. We are held in trust with Love and Respect for all that is, all that was, and all that will be as we move steadily toward our destiny.
