A gentle reminder:
You don’t have to hold everything by yourself.
It’s okay to lean on support.
It’s okay to share the weight
It’s okay to let others show up for you, too.

Sometimes strength looks like opening up, setting boundaries, or simply admitting that things feel heavy. Healing was never meant to happen in isolation.

Take a deep breath. Give yourself permission to put some of the weight down this week 💗💗

Our nervous system is bigger than we think.
It carries an ecosystem of lineage, culture, land, and we’re always in relationship with each other.

It reminds me of Deepa Iyer’s work on the social change ecosystem: a sustaining committing practice where each of us move in and out of different roles in advocating (weavers, storytellers, healers, frontline responders…) depending on where we feel most resourced. That we don’t always have to be all the roles all at once.

From the way we show up, to the energy we bring when we slow down, we are bridging portals to build on the nervous system.

How we show up relationally has shifted since 2019: our social defenses are high and the fear of being rejected, othered, judged, seen dictates how we end up being agreeable and masking our way through.

We discuss the bandwagon effect and groupthink and cancel culture and the need to feel all-knowing/competent all the time.

Through a therapeutic art prompt, we’ll get curious about what these patterns are doing for us, and where they might be costing us.

When:
Saturday May 23, 1-3pm

Where:
Room 317 - 402 W Pender St.
(4 spots left)

🌐 Save your spot: https://luma.com/wo6liryu

Off-Screen Hours drop-ins is a weekend art-based group to slow that down. Through curated creative prompts led by a qualifying art therapist and counsellor, we’ll explore how you tend to show up, where you might be over-adjusting, and what being more like yourself could look like in a way that still feels comfortable.

Bibliotherapy Book Club is designed by a licensed therapist, third culture kid, and fiction lover to help us get in touch with our feelings through literature analysis.

Our goal is accessibility, we want you to be able to identify, explore, and process your feelings through the medium of reading. We know that getting to the root of your feelings can be hard, especially if you’re less comfortable in a traditional 1:1 counselling session.

That’s why we’re offering Bibliotherapy Book Club (online!), with themed readings and reflective prompts to get you in your feels, to help you think critically, and to offer your nervous system the opportunity to slow down.

Our theme this month is intergenerational healing. Which book would you prefer to explore in depth?
