There’s a key factor in how we experience pain that is often overlooked. At Vancouver's Broadway Wellness, Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs), Osteopathic Practitioners, and Bodyworkers use principles of myofascial therapy and osteopathy to better understand and treat pain at its root.
Why Pain Can Be Misleading
Pain doesn't always show up where the actual problem is. When the body develops an injury or long-term holding pattern, the affected tissue becomes dense and immobile. This dense tissue can begin to pull on surrounding structures, leading to discomfort in areas far from the original issue.
Interestingly, it’s often the weakened, overstretched tissue—not the dense, immobile areas—that sends distress signals to your nervous system. These compensating areas are overworked, strained, and trying to adapt. They hurt because they’re taking on too much.
