Who says dermatologists don’t go out in the sun? I love a day at the pool. Anyone else? 😅

There are a few patterns I see again and again with male patients — and with the men in my own life:

• Sunscreen gets skipped
• Skincare feels unnecessary
• Skin changes are ignored
• Hair loss is addressed late
• Cosmetic treatments are seen as “not for men”

But healthy skin isn’t about vanity. Many skin and hair concerns are much easier to prevent than they are to reverse.

So if you’re a man reading this, consider it a friendly reminder. And if there’s a man in your life who might benefit from this, send it to him.

Basic wound care tips from a dermatologist. There are lots of misconceptions on this topic and what you learned as a kid likely is not what we now recommend. We are not letting wounds dry out or using hydrogen peroxide. For minor wounds just rinse with water, mild soap or saline solution. Keep moist with Vaseline to heal.

5 things your dermatologist will tell you to NEVER do to your skin:
1. Treat sunscreen as optional.
2. Use a tanning bed. Ever.
3. Rely on viral skincare hacks to treat real skin conditions.
4. Ignore neck, chest, and hands.
5. Use hydrogen peroxide or Neosporin on minor wounds.

Which are you guilty of?

Tretinoin has a lot of benefits for the skin beyond treating acne. But prescription strength retinoids aren’t right for everyone and over the counter retinol or retinal can be a great option too. If you’ve tried it what was your experience?

My husband just turned 50. Men age differently. They also tend to believe sunscreen is only for the beach. 🙃

So here’s what I’ve had him prioritize:
• A simple, consistent skincare routine
• Treating hair loss early — not when it’s “too late”
• Strategic, subtle in-office treatments

Nothing dramatic. Just consistency and smart prevention over time. Healthy aging isn’t accidental.

Tag or send this to the man in your life (or better yet, book him in!)

Small changes in daily habits have done more for my hair than any single product. Comment HAIRCARE and I’ll send you a link to all my haircare favorites.

These are things I consistently do that make the biggest difference over time. Healthy scalp. Less friction. Less heat damage.
