Morgane has worked hard to advocate for parents, children, and those who struggle with homelessness. She has also fought to uphold the rights of oppressed minorities. If you live in the False Creek riding ask her how you can help.
I’m writing to you today to ask for your support in the upcoming BC NDP nomination in Vancouver-False Creek. John Horgan called the election for October 24 and the False Creek nomination call will be online Tuesday 10pm to Wednesday 10pm.
You can read more about why I hope you'll support my nomination on my website here: https://votemorganeoger.ca
As you know I was your BC NDP candidate in Vancouver-False Creek in the 2017 provincial election and we came within 415 votes that election on a shoestring budget - thanks to people believing in me and seeing for themselves that I was on their side.
Our team worked against all expectations in 2017 and showed that with the right candidate the BC NDP could turn False Creek orange. Today, I’m asking you to help me finish the job.
If you were one of the more than 40% of False Creek voters who chose me on the 2017 ballot, I am very grateful for your support and hope I continued to earn your support in the following years.
I have been organizing support since the 2017 election and have really built up my profile. I’ve been working on the ground for 3 years helping people and advocating at their side so they get heard. I’ve been growing our base and the membership list.
We now have three times more BC NDP members in False Creek than in 2016 and have significantly more money in the constituency association’s account than we had at the same time when the last election was called.
After running my own business for 25 years as an international high-tech consultant in submarine robotics, in finance technology, and in enterprise software, I am now on the Canadian IT Management team of Best Buy, the world’s largest multi-channel electronics retailer.
For the last 5 years, I’ve been helping push for increased school capacity in Yaletown and in Olympic Village. My two children attended preschool and elementary school here in False Creek and my kids experienced firsthand the overcrowding in False Creek schools - which has only been made worse by COVID-19.
More recently, I've been pushing our city to be more proactive about the precarious situation of people living in homelessness to better support people facing homelessness, addiction, and mental health crises. Everyone has the right to live in dignity and in safety - and that includes accessing medical and mental health care when needed. It also includes the right to erect a temporary shelter in a designated, secure, space with services funded using the provincial shelter allowance until appropriate housing is made available. After all, it was specifically created to prevent homelessness.
After the 2017 election, I was elected your BC NDP Vice-President until I stepped down in 2019 to prepare for the upcoming election. I am so proud that while I was a table officer, our party was able to solidify our financial position and build up our election reserves.
The Party reformed our processes to comply with Bill 3 which limits campaign funding to people who are BC residents - specifically prohibiting campaign contributions or advertising from big business and their proxy organizations to stop business interests from interfering with our elections. I’m proud that my service governing our party for two years drove our financial readiness for the next election.
I've been reaching out to all the members in the constituency to have a chat about how things are going and hear from you about your concerns and your observations.
A very important role of an elected official is to represent their constituents and to be their voice, and it’s time for Vancouver-False Creek to have an MLA that listens and that addresses the issues that are important to constituents.
