👟 Happening in just a month's time: join us in taking steps to support mental health this October 4 for the 5th annual for Sobriety Association’s fundraising event!

Run for Sobriety is Langley’s only run/walk event dedicated to raising funds and awareness for mental health and substance use.

The annual event began in 2021, as an anniversary of founder Josh Baron’s sobriety with family and friends. Since then, the run has grown to become a community event that’s raised more than $17,000 in support of mental health.

Event proceeds will continue to go toward CMHA BC, and help support the programs, outreach, and advocacy we do to champion mental health in British Columbia.

August 31 is . Let's remember and honour loved ones who lost their lives to the toxic drug supply, and push for a community-based continuum of care that helps keep people safe.

The toxic drug crisis continues to affect people across BC, almost a decade since it was declared a public health emergency. Overdoses can and must be prevented by a broad spectrum of support for people who use substances — including lifesaving harm reduction initiatives like overdose prevention sites and prescribed alternatives, a variety of accessible treatment options that meet people’s needs, aftercare and ongoing recovery supports, as well as comprehensive health care and addressing basic survival needs like housing and food security.

Together, we can push for policy change that keeps our loved ones safe and promote well-being for all in our communities.

In the Community Social Services (CSS) sector, emotions can play a role in your work, helping you connect with clients to better support them through their challenges. But without healthy boundaries, it can also lead to problems like burnout, compassion fatigue, and even secondary trauma.

In this short article from People Working Well, you'll learn how psychological detachment—the intentional process of mentally and emotionally separating from work experiences—can benefit CSS practitioners like yourself. You'll explore how psychological detachment can help you care sustainability throughout your career and find practical strategies to integrate it into your day-to-day work.
