I first met Gabor Maté through his words.
As a young family physician trying to understand people beyond their symptoms, his books — especially When the Body Says No and Scattered Minds — profoundly shaped the way I saw health, suffering, trauma, healing, and humanity.
Long before the world knew him as the extraordinary thought leader, speaker, and author he is today, his work reminded many of us in medicine that healing was never meant to be transactional. It was always meant to be deeply human.
Over the years, he became not only a mentor and teacher, but also a dear friend and colleague.
He has been such a meaningful supporter of Zili CARE’s mission — speaking at our conferences in 2019, again in 2023, and now joining us for Beyond Wellness.
The wisdom, compassion, and courage he brings to the world — and his commitment to helping all of us better understand the true essence of health, trauma, healing, and human connection — has deeply influenced my own path and the vision behind
In many ways, this movement exists because voices like his helped so many of us remember that mind, body, and soul were never meant to be separated.
To share the stage with him on April 21st was something I will carry with me forever. 🙏💕
The feeling.
The laughter.
The banter.
The love.
The wisdom.
If you missed it, the conversation is now available to watch for free when you subscribe on the Zili CARE website (see link in bio)
