For us, care is personal. Founded in 1993 by Al and Jenny Jina, Park Place Seniors Living has remained proudly Canadian-owned and family-led for over 30 years.

Being both Canadian and family-owned means leadership is closely connected to every residence, and we make every decision based on our residents’ needs.

We make sure our care teams are supported and equipped to provide the best care possible. In turn, they are able to take the time to get to know each resident on a personal level, so everyone in our community feels seen and valued.

Each month, we highlight a STRIVE story from across our community. These stories reflect what we stand for as an organization and showcase how we strive for excellence in everything we do, through meaningful connection, clear communication, and exceptional senior care.

Across the Park Place communities, we value creating an environment where residents feel welcomed and able to be themselves. Thoughtful programming allows everyone to make new friends, get creative, and have fun. When activities are designed around residents’ personal interests and abilities, they feel more included, and our community is strengthened.

This month’s STRIVE story is from Shaughnessy Seniors Community in Port Coquitlam:

The recreation department underwent a major transformation, introducing a vibrant calendar of activities such as baking, pet therapy, church services, Bingo, breakfast and lunch clubs, happy hours, ice cream socials, high tea, live entertainment, garden walks, bus outings, and specialized dementia programming. Community connections were expanded by welcoming local students for performances and sing-alongs. Sonia’s creative leadership was instrumental in driving these enhancements, which have significantly improved residents’ quality of life, increased family satisfaction, and fostered greater pride and collaboration within the team.

Many people wonder what life will feel like after moving to an independent living community. What does everyday life really look like? What will change, and what will stay the same?

Park Place Seniors Living is designed to support the life you already enjoy.

We take care of the housekeeping, laundry, and home maintenance, giving you more time for hobbies, seeing friends, or visiting with family.

You have the freedom to spend your days however you like. Chef-prepared meals are included, so there’s no need to grocery shop, cook, or clean up, but if you love to cook, you can still do that too. With onsite amenities, activities, outings, and welcoming shared spaces, you can join in or simply enjoy your own routine.

Residents can live more fully, with fewer daily responsibilities and more room for what matters most. Whether that means a quiet morning with coffee and a book or an afternoon spent with friends, this is your life, simply supported in new ways.

Founded by Al and Jenny Jina, Park Place Seniors Living is a family-owned and operated company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Starting out as a nurse, Jenny has worked with Seniors her entire life. Together with her husband Al, they opened their first location in Nelson, BC in 1993 with a goal to enrich the lives of seniors and define a new quality of care.

Today, The Park Place family has grown to include more than 30 residences located in communities throughout BC, Alberta, and Ontario including independent retirement residences, assisted and supportive living, and long term complex care.

All Park Place Long-Term Care residences are certified by Accreditation Canada, a national and independent body used by health care organizations across Canada as an independent measure for quality of care.

Each Park Place residence is only made possible by our amazing staff. Our commitment to care has attracted some of the best and brightest people in the industry. Together, we have created a warm and welcoming environment and raised a new standard of excellence in professional care for Seniors.
