We’ve all had those WHOOPS moments in our IBS journey, right? 🙈 You know, the times you tried well-meaning (but terrible) advice in a desperate attempt to find relief.
Fibre, laxatives, ‘natural’ treatments... It’s SO tempting to try it all when nothing seems to work. Been there, done that. 😬
I get it — early on in my own IBS journey, I felt like I tried EVERYTHING. And let me tell you: these are likely going to make you feel worse:
🚫 Colon Hydrotherapy
🚫 Herbal Laxatives
🚫 Traditional Fibre Therapy
Why didn’t they work? IBS is a motility issue, meaning your gut moves too fast or too slow (sometimes both). These treatments mess with your motility, which just makes your hypersensitive IBS gut feel worse. 😩
So, what works instead? 🤔
The key is to use therapies and foods that regulate motility, not disrupt it.
Now, I focus on:
💚 IBS-safe fibre
💚 Gentle motility support like magnesium
💚 Therapies like massage and gut-directed mindfulness apps
Trust me, when you treat your gut gently and with care, the results are so much better. 🙌
