Myth: You need to be a professional to support someone with their mental health.
Fact: You need empathy, awareness, and the right tools.

Mental Health First Aid is a new training offering at the Crisis Centre. This training equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to recognize changes in mental health, respond supportively, and take action.

By bringing this training to the Crisis Centre, we hope to expand how our community can support each other: build practical skills, increase confidence in responding to mental health challenges, and reduce stigma so that more people feel supported when they need it most.

Registration is now open for our first sessions. Visit our website to learn more and register:

It's National Volunteer Week, a chance to recognize the incredible volunteers who keep the Crisis Centre running 💛

The Crisis Centre's volunteers put their skills, heart and energy into spreading resilience and hope through our communities and providing a lifeline to those in crisis. We have almost 300 volunteers, who contributed nearly 40,000 hours last year, and we could not be more grateful for them.

To every volunteer who answers a call, visits a classroom, supports someone in need, or shows up behind the scenes: thank you for being there when it matters most. Your dedication makes a real difference, every single day.
