Knowledge is power — and learning our shared history is how we move from awareness to action. National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) is hosting Truth and Reconciliation Week (Sept 22–26, 2025), offering free events and resources to honour Survivors, learn about the legacy of residential schools, and take meaningful steps forward. The week includes Lunch & Learn sessions - bring what you learn back to your community, and help build a more respectful future.

If you missed any sessions, recordings are now available to watch at your own pace.

See details about Day 3 below and don’t miss Day 4 and 5: TRC Calls to Action, corporate reconciliation, and confronting denialism.

Learn more and see the full schedule: https://trw-svr.nctr.ca/lunch-and-learns/

On Day 3 of Truth and Reconciliation Week, we ask – how do residential schools continue to affect the present day?

Open to the public, join today’s FREE lunch and learn at 12:00PM CDT, discussing the direct throughline from the residential school system to the Sixties Scoop through to the overwhelming number of Indigenous children in child welfare today, including the directly related aspect of forced and coerced sterilizations of Indigenous women.

Residential school Survivor Vivian Ketchum and reproductive justice support worker Shelby Ponace will be joined in conversation by moderator Roxanne Balan, a child and family services worker.

There’s still time to participate in this year’s Truth and Reconciliation Week 2025 lunch and learn series at https://trw-svr.nctr.ca/lunch-and-learns/

All programming is available in English, French, and ASL.

When you know the truth about our history, you can take action 🧡
-------------------

In advance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30), we invite you to reflect: What steps have you taken to decolonize your space—at work, in your community, or in your life? Read practical, culturally grounded ideas and resources to move reflection into action.

The word reconciliation is used often in mainstream society, but what does it really mean in practice? Beyond ceremonies and statements, what can each of us do to support it in our daily lives?

Behind every statistic is a story of hope.

Living donation means shorter wait times, better outcomes, and more moments together with loved ones.

Last year, 590 Canadians stepped forward as living donors, giving a kidney or part of their liver — and hope for a longer, healthier life.

This , we honour donors and celebrate the lives forever changed through the gift of organ donation.
