Processing Tragedy
In the wake of the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge, many people are processing, grieving, and trying to make sense of difficult emotions.
Events like this can bring up so many emotions: shock, sadness, anger, fear, or heaviness. However you’re feeling, your reaction is valid.
We also want to gently remind our community:
Violence is the responsibility of the individual who commits it. No group or community should be blamed, targeted, or stigmatized because of the actions of one person.
At Options for S*xual Health, our work is rooted in dignity, inclusion, bodily autonomy, and respect for diversity. Many of the communities we serve and work alongside already face stigma, discrimination, and misinformation. During moments like this, it is especially important that we remain grounded in compassion and resist narratives that fuel fear or division.
Our focus remains on solidarity with those harmed, compassion for those grieving, and care for one another. If you are finding it difficult to focus or need flexibility, please know that is normal and common as a response to grief. Resources are available to help people cope with the emotions they may be feeling at this time.
