Dr. Tedi Fisher Chinese Medicine & Yoga

Dr. Tedi Fisher Chinese Medicine & Yoga All things yoga, TCM and health related I am a yogi who is committed to illuminating areas within myself and my students that are hiding in the shadows. Namaste!

When we embark on a yogic journey, we are brought to a place of higher awareness where irresponsible thoughts and actions are no longer ignored. I believe that this practice has a strong power to transform and this transformation varies from person to person. Whether it be living a more healthy and active lifestyle to elevating your global consciousness, I want to encourage individuals to positive

ly impact their communities and environments. We wake up in order to be present in our daily lives. We are eliminating pain in our physical bodies so we can connect to a more spiritual and energetic self. We are transforming ourselves on a micro level in order to influence the world. The time is now, step onto the mat and enjoy the ride. I began my practice in the eighth grade which has evolved naturally into teaching. I offer a strong vinyasa class with lots of breath, flowing movement, inversions and arm balances. My studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) percolate my teachings, so don’t’ be surprised if you learn a little about the meridians and TCM theory. HBA KINESIOLOGY '08

Spring is on it’s way! Ari came home the other day, brought this to me and said. “Mommy I got you a gift! You like eating these!” And then he proceeded to shove it into my mouth 🤔Spruce tip season is almost here 🌲 Spruce tips are a great source of of Vitamin C and can be eaten right off the tree or added to salads and soups. It’s important to respect Mother Earth and only take what you need, not stripping these beautiful trees of all their offerings. It’s also important not to take all the tips from one tree, just a few from a variety of trees 🌲

1 for you. 4 for me. 🤍

“...when there’s evidence suggesting that something might help, it’s generally safe when used as recommended, and has the added plus of affordability, I do think it’s worth exploring further – and in this case, adopting as a preventative health measure.

We already know that Vitamin D plays an enormous role in both healthy immunity and inflammation control. Vitamin D is essential for our innate immunity and boosts immune function against viral diseases. The evidence is now becoming quite compelling that vitamin D’s immune-modulating effects, including reducing inflammation, may be relevant to the risk of developing COVID-19, COVID-19 respiratory response and cytokine storm, and disease severity.”

"And then there's that survival aspect —we realize we're not masters of this earth, there's this little virus that can take us all down, and how do we reconnect with being part of natural living systems? Cooking [is] one of those things that connects us to natural living systems. Food is one of those things that connects us to the earth."

And unlike a virus, which requires a host to survive, she notes that yeast is very much a living thing.

"It's that comfort of connecting to heritage or connecting to a living thing, a microorganism like yeast," she said.

Typically what I have found in clinic is, if a condition is excess in nature, the patient responds better to acupuncture and if it’s a condition of deficiency (deficient Qi, blood or body fluids) the patient needs to supplement with herbs as well. It actually takes energy for your body to respond to acupuncture, so if you’re already depleted and don’t add herbs to help nourish, the process is slower and potentially ineffective. Excess conditions can include: heat, pain, rapid heart rate and stress. Deficient conditions can include: irregular mentruation, dizziness, slow pulse, pale and itchy rashes and night sweats. There’s often a combination of deficiency and excess and finding the correct diagnoses is complicated but this can give you an general understanding of when herbal medicine can be useful.

🧡Making space for pulse taking at toddler bday parties 🧡When I apologized to for not being able to properly formulate a sentence when interpreting her pulse she instilled some beautiful words of wisdom. She told me mom brain is a term we should leave behind. Our brain waves change to attune to our newborn baby. Our brains are designed to support our baby and do nothing else for the time being. Areas of the brain responsible for emotional regulation and parental motivation increase in volume. So moms stop apologizing for baby brain, it’s a beautiful shift to help sync you with your offspring. Ps. Hoping this paragraph makes sense ;)

My patients call ear seeds “acupuncture to go” I have found great success in using them for insomnia, anxiety and weight loss!

“According to research published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the mechanisms of ear acupuncture have a close relationship with the autonomic nervous system and neuroendocrine system. Its efficacy is based on the stimulation of neural reflexes, which makes it possible to relieve pain, anxiety and sleep issues by triggering ear acupoints.”

Ear seeds are an ancient Chinese practice used to help with anxiety, pain, weight loss and addiction, but do they actually work? Find out here.

Love these oils for hair growth! I especially recommend rosemary which has studies showing that it’s as effective as minoxidil (rogaine) for hair growth (in androgenic alopecia).

Do you have dry, thin or dull hair but have never used essential oils for your hair? Here's your guide.

A fertility patient recently asked- “why aren’t you putting the acupuncture points in my stomach?” There are many ways acupuncture works, but often we use points on the body that seem totally unrelated to your issue. The meridians work like nerves, you can stimulate one site to affect a distant location. So, sometimes I do put the points in local areas ie: over the ovaries, at an injury site or in the forehead for anxiety. However a lot of the time the points are in parts of the body that seem completely unrelated. On my website I’ve linked a study using functional MRI to show how specific acu points on the foot light up the area of vision in the brain.
