EastVan Bees -Raw Urban Multi Floral Honey

-Gently Filtered
-Never Heated EastVan Bees are about diversity.

Multiple cultures in neighborhoods making a community. We are inspired by the history and vibrant past and future that is the East side. We work with hive host homeowners and community gardens in various Vancouver neighborhoods to produce the most diverse multi-floral honey that can only come from here. Vancouver has multitude of amazing gardens full of flowers and vegetables. Flowering trees like the Maple and Linden line our boulevards as well as all the fruit trees hidden in back yards.Bees thrive in an urban environment. There is always enough food for our bees and with the diversity of the pollen it makes for happy healthy bees. Our bees are never transported for pollination like country bees. Country bees often travel across the province or even across the country to pollinate various crops like canola, Sunflower or fruits like blueberries. Most beekeepers don’t have a say in if the crop gets sprayed with chemicals. While we can’t guarantee our honey to be organic it’s about as pure and raw as you’re going to get in Vancouver. We handle every frame of honey that gets put in a jar. East Van Bees honey is never heated or over filtered to remove the pollen that gives our honey its unique neighborhood flavor-hoods Unlike commercial honey that takes all the honey from the hives and mixes it together ,you will taste the flavors of each neighborhood and imagine what was blooming to provide the nectar that the bees collect to transform into what we know as honey. Nothing like beeswax candles ❤️

To all my beeswax candle loving friends, the EastVan Bees candles have arrived! I love, love, love these candles. Such good quality and positive vibes from these babies. Look at these cuties. Come grab them quick...limited quantities. Also, several hand-dipped tapers available for your holiday tables. Don't burn cheap paraffin candles - that stuff is toxic. There's nothing like the gentle honey scent of burning beeswax, and it ionizes the air too.

Yeah, I'm a beekeeper and run a small business, but that isn't everything. I love to travel and see new things.
I'm in Slovenia right now, home to the Carniolan bee and a country rich in beekeeping history. Here are a few shots of my travels and, of course, pollinators. That's me in the last pic trying to capture an image of some sort of pollinator!

Bees on figs at a local market in Ljubljana
Slovenia is a true beekeeping nation 🐝🇸🇮 — home of the protected Carniolan honey bee, the only bee species allowed here. With nearly every village having its own beekeepers, honey and hive products are a big part of daily life, culture, and even art. Ljubljana celebrates this tradition through its “Bee Path,” a network of urban hives, gardens, and educational stops that show how deeply bees are woven into the city. No wonder Slovenian beekeeping is recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s cultural heritage! 🌼🍯✨

It's all done. The last frame has been extracted, and now the bottling begins.
It's been a fun season with the bees.
I still love it, even though lifting things every day gets a bit tiring.

Pulling the last of the honey from and look at how yellow the wax is!
Honey looks super dark.

Have any guesses what the bees are collecting to make this bright yellow wax and dark honey?

It's hot out, so don't forget to leave out a water source for the bees. A bowl with some rocks in it so the bees don't drown is great. When it is hot, bees can use up to a liter of water to cool off the hive. Similar to humans sweating, they use the water by spreading droplets around the hive, which evaporate cooling it.
