Healing happens when people feel seen, respected, and rooted in culture.

At Kílala Lelum, we walk alongside our relatives, providing culturally grounded health care, harm reduction, and social support.

However, even as health and social challenges continue to grow, our core funding hasn’t increased since we first opened our doors. Cultural wellness, women and gender-diverse programming, food security, chronic pain supports, and safe spaces need your help.

With only three days left before the year comes to an end, will you stand with us to transform health care in the DTES?

Every gift makes a difference.

Amid rising costs and growing need, Kílala Lelum continues to offer a space where health care begins with relationship and respect.

Here’s a glimpse of the transformational work your gift can help sustain:

Primary care and nursing
Elder-led cultural wellness and ceremony
Harm reduction, overdose response, and education
Social navigation and housing support
Food security and accessible nutrition
Counselling and emotional care
Outreach and peer support teams
Land-based and cultural wellness programs, including canoe journeys, plant medicine teachings, and seasonal gatherings
Our programs are built on relationships, and those relationships change lives.

We’re only $19,260.22 away from our fundraising goal. Will you stand in solidarity and donate today?

At Kílala Lelum, our work is rooted in culture, community, and connection.

Your generosity helps sustain and strengthen our at-risk programming, such as:

Canoe program, strengthening identity, resilience, and community ties
Low-barrier food security and safe community spaces
Culturally safe, trauma-informed, and Elder-led cultural care
Traditional medicine and land-based healing initiatives
Women’s and gender diverse health programming
Culturally relevant chronic pain programming

Your contribution will help sustain the Indigenous-led programs and services that form the heart of our cooperative—ensuring our relatives can access warmth, safety, cultural care, and dignity through the coldest months of the year.

If you haven’t already done so, please consider donating to our today.

At Kílala Lelum, healing isn’t just about treatment; it’s about belonging, kinship, and culture.

The health and social needs of our community have intensified, the cost of living has risen sharply, and the ongoing drug toxicity crisis continues to escalate.

Yet, our funding has not increased since we first opened our doors.

Your support makes our integrated model possible, which includes:

Primary care and nursing
Elder-led cultural wellness and ceremony
Harm reduction, overdose response, and education
Social navigation and housing support
Food security and accessible nutrition
Counselling and emotional care
Outreach and peer support teams
Land-based and cultural wellness programs, including canoe journeys, plant medicine teachings, and seasonal gatherings

Will you help us carry culture, care, and community through the cold months, and beyond?

Please help us reach our fundraising goal.

Our Story

The Urban Indigenous Health & Healing Cooperative was established following our experiences with the Vancouver Indigenous Elders Partnership (VIP) programme -- a pilot project to provide traditional Indigenous healing alongside routine primary care within Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Evaluation of the VIP program demonstrated consistent positive impacts on well-being, mental health and decreased use of crisis-oriented Emergency Services. Participants in the VIP program voiced their demand to expand access to Indigenous Elders within the Downtown Eastside primary care system. We have answered their call.

After careful consideration, and out of care and respect for the community, we have taken the steps necessary to create a new Indigenous-focused health centre in the DTES that will uphold the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.
