Menopause has the potential to worsen health issues that women with spinal cord injury/dysfunction (SCI/D) already experience. But too often, their voices are missing from the conversation.

That's why SCI BC, GF Strong, ICORD, Women’s Health Research Institute at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Science Centre, and Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute came together to ask women with SCI and care providers: What matters most when it comes to menopause?

Here are the top 10 research priorities they identified:
1. The difference between menopause symptoms and SCI/D related symptoms
2. Bladder and bowel health
3. Bone health
4. Heart health and metabolic disease
5. Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) symptoms
6. Impact of the level and severity of SCI/D
7. Sexual health
8. Sleep problems and associated fatigue
9. Pressure injuries
10. Tone and spasticity

Your experiences helped shape this list and future research.
