I’d be more than happy to have this conversation with you. Feel free to call back when you can have it without yelling at me.
I’m going to go ahead and hang up now

Simple. Calm. Respectful.

But here’s the real lesson:

Part of your job is to disqualify bad patients.

If someone keeps being rude or disrespectful, say this

“I’m not sure we’re the best fit for you.”

Sometimes the answer is no and that’s okay.

Stop asking patients “When would you like to come in?”

There are 168 hours in a week. When you ask people what works for them, they look at all of them. Then they hit you with every excuse in the book.

Here’s what to do instead:
1) Always offer two time slots
2) Always offer the soonest spot first

Say this:

“Chelsea, I can get you in tomorrow, Wednesday, September 10th at 2:00 or 5:15. Which works best?”

Once they pick, repeat it back to them.

“OK, great. I have you scheduled for Wednesday, September 10th at 5:15”

says you control the calendar. Not the patient.

You don’t need to plan their entire plan of care.

Your only job right now is to get them on the schedule for one appointment.

Step 2: Say This If They Don’t Schedule

“I get it, you want to talk to your husband. Here’s what we can do. What’s a good time between 9 and 12 tomorrow for me to call and follow up.”
