As the year draws to a close, we want to send our warmest holiday wishes and a heartfelt thank you to you, our community.

This past year has been one of growth, creativity, and deep connection. Thank you for another year of coming on this journey with us. We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished and deeply grateful for the staff, clinicians, volunteers, partners, members and Board who bring REACH’s mission to life. There is so much to celebrate, and so much to look forward to in 2026!

We are proud to recognize Inas Lasheen, Cross-Cultural Health Promoter at REACH, as the recipient of the 2025 Carol Matusicky Distinguished Service to Families Award from the BC Council for Families. Since 1987, this award has honoured individuals and organizations whose work has made a meaningful, measurable impact on the wellbeing of families in BC, and Inas truly embodies this legacy.

Her work reminds us that health care extends beyond physical health. For newcomers rebuilding their lives after trauma and displacement, cultural safety, social connection, and mental and emotional support are deeply important factors towards well-being.

Inas has dedicated more than a decade to creating spaces where women feel supported and safe by offering trauma-informed mental health support, wellness programs, English conversation groups, and community navigation that have touched over 1,000 families.

Today, we honour her work, along with the hope and sense of belonging she has helped restore in many lives. Please join us in celebrating Inas, whose commitment to her group and community health is reflected in this distinguished award! 👏

Our Arabic women’s support group headed to VanDusen Botanical Garden to check out the holiday lights! This was a fun way for the group to get together, embrace the spirit of the season and connect over fresh air and festivities.

Our last Health Hub of the year ‘Arthritis Action’ was indeed action-packed at the Vancouver Public Library Branch at Britannia Community Services Centre.

Thanks to our Public Health team, the incredible volunteers and practicum nursing students from VCC - Vancouver Community College who supported with resources and community engagement, and to all who stopped by to chat with us.

Our Arab Women’s Settlement Group attended a sewing workshop together BNH South House. For most of them, this was a completely new experience and an opportunity to build practical skills with the support of the warm community they have built together.

Learning to sew allowed the participants to enjoy moments of pride as each participant created their own item. Along with gaining a new skill, the workshop offered confidence and a space to enjoy their shared success!

Please join us for a day of culture, fundraising and action on the Drive! The Drive for Palestine will be held December 20 at Britannia – Gym D, organized by the Palestine Fundraising Committee at REACH, in collaboration with , AlAwda, .van, .free.communities.bc and .canada.

There will be food and art vendors, live embroidery, a raffle, silent auction, cultural performances and a kid’s corner for the little ones. We hope you can join us and shop locally for the holiday season. All funds raised will go directly towards relief efforts with the Gaza Soup Kitchen.

We are excited to celebrate two milestones of our long-service colleagues at REACH!

Eva, our Payroll and Benefit Administrator, completed 30 years here! Her story at REACH has taken many twists and turns between her roles within Medical clinic and Administration department, along with her time in bingo halls – something we all learned about REACH history.

Lloyd, our Medical Director, just completed 10 years at REACH! Starting as a Physician just before our new building opened, he has been part of many ventures, from the launch of our UPCC to critical Covid-19 responses.

We had the honour of hosting Dr Nunan and Dr Ziara for a presentation and discussion around the devastating reality of delivering health care and medical aid amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. This was followed by documentary filmmakers from Ana Falastini, who generously shared one of their powerful episodes of exploring Palestinian diaspora and culture in Vancouver.

These Lunch and Learn sessions served as a way to help staff build understanding, hold supportive conversations, and consider how local action can advance health equity and human rights. Thank you to our presenters and everyone who made these sessions possible.

Established in 1969, REACH is a Community Health Centre with a history of primary care innovation. REACH is dedicated to providing high quality integrated health care in East Vancouver to families and individuals of all ages. We focus on clients with complex social, mental or physical needs, addressing the social determinants of health to the local residents of the Granview-Woodland area. REACH offers a widely respected interdisciplinary approach to care within our medical, dental, pharmacy and multi-cultural outreach programs.
