Raycam Cooperative Centre hosted a warm, well-resourced community fair that brought together some incredible organizations and people for health access and well-being resources. We enjoyed connecting with community members and partners and hearing your thoughts in response to our questions around gaps and needs in community health care.

Thanks to the Raycam team, and all who stopped by to share your time with us, we look forward to continued collaboration!

Part of what makes REACH Dental so vital in our community is our ability to care for patients with low incomes, newcomers, seniors, and people who often fall through the gaps in existing public dental programs. We do this through a blend of public funding and clinic revenue, allowing us to keep care accessible for those who need it most.

Sadly, the Province recently confirmed that it will not renew the critical grant that supports BC’s not-for-profit dental clinics, despite clear evidence that stable funding prevents suffering and reduces pressure on emergency rooms.

This will affect patients who rely on public benefits programs, have limited ability to pay, or face other barriers to accessing private dental care. We want to ensure that we can still provide care to those who need it the most, while reducing the demand and stress on other healthcare services that will inevitably become more strained.

This article highlights the broader system impacts. Please consider sharing it with your networks and MLAs as we work to uphold our commitment to accessible, community-based care.

We urge our community to stand with us against Alberta’s private insurance bill and join the National Day of Action this Monday.

This legislation poses a serious threat to universal public health care in Canada. By introducing private, for-profit insurance, Alberta is opening the door to a two-tier system that prioritizes those who can pay while leaving the most vulnerable behind.

Join us in calling on Hedy Fry to speak out and defend the Canada Health Act and our system of universal care:

Stronger together for greater impact! Our Board members and Board staff representatives spent an intentional day strengthening relationships, building trust, and deepening our connection as a team because strong partnerships help us better serve our community.

Grounded in our community agreement principles, we reaffirmed our strategic priorities and clarified how we will champion these goals to create meaningful, lasting impact. We also began shaping an integrated fundraising vision to keep our programs sustainable and responsive to the people we serve.

Aligned with our legacy and inspired to do even more for our community, we continue advancing our mission together!

Check out REACH’s strategic priorities outlined on page 10 of our annual report.

The Ramadan Workshop, offered through the Nobody's Perfect Parenting Program BC at Burnaby Public Library (Tommy Douglas), brought mothers and children together for a warm, culturally responsive family session.

Children enjoyed Ramadan crafts, lantern decorating, and Arabic and English story time. Mothers gathered for a supportive discussion on positive parenting, emotional connection, and nurturing family routines during this holy period.

All the women left with free parenting resources, a certificate and greater parenting confidence. Congratulations to the participants and thank you to Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Program!

Our Executive Director joined leaders from Shoreline Medical Society and Kílala Lelum Health Centre for the first session of The Future of Primary Care in BC webinar series.

Together, they spoke about why community-based, team-based, not-for-profit primary care matters, especially for improving access and health equity.

A key message from the conversation:
When care is designed with communities, supported by stable teams, and connected across the health system access becomes more reliable and care fits real lives.

We’re grateful to BC Policy Solutions for creating space for this important dialogue!
