We are sharing the obituary of Carla Brunoro's son.

Paolo Mario Brunoro

Paolo Mario Brunoro was born on December 22, 1960, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and passed away on August 16, 2025, in New Westminster, British Columbia.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Paolo, a warm-hearted and adventurous son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and teammate. Paolo’s journey in this life was marked by a spirit of generosity and a deep love for his family. He leaves behind his cherished mother, Carla; his sister, Anna; brother-in-law, Steve; his brother, Gino; sister-in-law, Lori; and his nephew and nieces, Nicholas, Sophia, and Isabella. He will be deeply missed by his aunts Luigina, Mirella, and Cristina, and Uncle Luigino. He was especially close to his many cousins and their children, finding joy and a sense of belonging in their collective wisdom and stories. He was in touch with many extended family members in Canada, in the United States, and in Italy. Paolo’s absence will be felt by all who knew and loved him.

Paolo was a man deeply rooted in family and in his Catholic faith. His heart held a special place for those who shaped him. His late father, Mario, along with Paolo’s mother, instilled in Paolo a deep appreciation for his Italian heritage. And it was his father who first nurtured Paolo’s love for playing sports; he was his biggest fan. Paolo was also devoted to his late brother, Gianni, whom he never stopped missing.

Paolo grew up in Burnaby, BC, attending Holy Cross elementary and later Notre Dame and Burnaby North high schools. He was a gifted athlete who excelled in many sports, from hockey to basketball to football. However, his true passion was lacrosse. A legendary player in his younger years, he won back-to-back Minto Cup championships with Burnaby Cablevision in 1978 and 1979. In 1993, he won the Presidents Cup Senior B Championship with the North Shore Indians. He coached the Burnaby Junior Lakers in 2001 and 2002, leading them to win the Minto cup in 2002. His love for the game led him to coach countless young players. He made significant contributions to the sport in the Lower Mainland, in Boston, MA, and most recently the Bella Venezia Lacrosse Club in the Veneto region of Italy.

Beyond playing and coaching sports, Paolo built a successful career as a commercial painter. He was always happy to paint the homes of his friends and family, a testament to his kind and giving nature. His deep love for travel was a reflection of his adventurous spirit, and for the last eight years, he split his time between Canada and Italy, exploring many parts of his ancestral land as he fully immersed himself in its culture and beauty. From a young age, Paolo had a deep love for music; he was a regular at concerts and often shared his favourite artists with those around him. He also had a great appreciation for wine; he enjoyed not only sharing a glass or two of good wine with friends but also picking grapes at various vineyards in Summerland and in Langley, BC, and most personally, on his ancestors’ vineyards in the Prosecco region in northern Italy, near Pieve Di Soligo, the town where his father was born. Paolo will be remembered as a humble and generous soul who quietly volunteered his time in coaching in various parts of the world. His Catholic faith also led him to do volunteer work in Vancouver, Cuba, and in El Salvador.

Paolo’s greatest accomplishment was the community he built and the web of friendships he wove throughout his life. He remained in touch with many people around the world and was a true friend.

His spirit of generosity touched the lives of many, and he will be forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Paolo is now reunited with his father, Mario, and his brother, Gianni, whom he so dearly loved.

Prayer and Funeral Details:

Prayers will be held for Paolo at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 315 Walker Street, Coquitlam, BC, on Thursday, August 28, at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima on Friday, August 29, at 10:30 am, with Entombment to follow at Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery, 15694 32nd Avenue, Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Paolo Brunoro Memorial Fund. Paolo will be deeply missed by family and friends but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Paolo, you will always be in our hearts.

We have another obituary to share.
Maria Beltrame

Lovingly known by the whole family as Mom or Nonna, she was born May 24, 1935, in Castelfranco, Veneto, Italy and she passed away, at the age of 90, in her home in Langley, BC on August 18, 2025.
She immigrated to Canada in 1957, and she left Italy on December 6 of that same year. After being on the ship for 12 long days, she arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the well-known immigration port, Pier 21. From Halifax she boarded a train to Montreal and in Montreal switched trains and boarded the train that was headed west to Vancouver, BC. Our Dad, Alberto, eagerly awaited her arrival in Vancouver. She arrived in Vancouver on December 21, 1957, and was under strict orders from her Dad (Nonno Fabbian) that she was to stay with her first cousin, Marta Fabbian, until their wedding day of December 26, 1957.

Mom and Dad were married 54 years before Dad passed away in 2012. With very little money, a deep faith in God and not knowing the language or the Canadian way of life they embarked on their journey together. They lived in Vancouver for about a year then moved to Queensborough (New Westminster, BC) where they started their large family. Queensborough had a very large Italian community from the Veneto region, and they found themselves surrounded by a wonderful community of friends and neighbours that all had a very similar story to theirs. Mom and Dad lived in Queensborough for 14 years and had all 6 boys there until moving to a small farm in Surrey, BC in 1972. The farm was needed to supplement a one-income household and large, growing family of 6 boys. Mom and Dad moved from Surrey to Langley in 1988 and remained in Langley until the present day.

Mom/Nonna was pre-deceased by her loving husband Alberto (1928 – 2012) and survived by their 6 boys: Silvano and grand-daughters Mia (Josue) and Lucia (Matt) and great-grandchildren Levi, December, Harmony and Ezekiel, George (Debbie), Richard and Stuart, John (Melody) and grand-children Matthew (Rani), Daniel and Ryan (Katrina), Josh and Christina (Paul) and great grand-children Adrian, Anastasia and Nico, Dave and grand-children, Mitchell (Erika), Isabella, Matthea and Jacob, Peter (Kerry) and grandchildren Tyler (Danielle), Ashleigh (Tim) and Kristine (Cormac), Angelo (Lisa) and grandchildren Sofia (Jacob), Anthony and Dominic and large extended family in Italy, Australia and Canada.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Langley on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the RCH Foundation.

We are sending out the information on Emilio Bordignon's funeral service.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and Nonno, Emilio Bordignon on July 5, 2025. He is lovingly remembered by his children Sandra (Adriano) and Paolo (Beverley), and his grandchildren Matteo, Gemma, Alexander, Dominic, and Arya, and extended family in both Canada and Italy.

Emilio was born in Romano d’Ezzelino on June 28, 1935, and raised in Bassano del Grappa. In 1957, Emilio made the brave journey to Canada to work in the Yukon Territories, before marrying the love of his life, Imelda, in 1965. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, and faith.

Emilio will be remembered as a kind-hearted and hard-working man, devoted father, a loving Nonno, and a deeply respected member of his community. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and gentle presence touched the lives of all who knew him.

Emilio was the true embodiment of a loving and devoted husband and father, standing faithfully by his beloved Imelda’s side through all of her health struggles, and selflessly supporting his family with unwavering love, strength, and resilience, while being a prostate cancer survivor himself.

Emilio found joy in life’s simple pleasures. In his later years, what was once Nonna’s garden slowly became his pride and joy — a peaceful sanctuary where he lovingly tended to an abundance of fruits, vegetables, and flowers, proudly sharing his harvest with others. He found peace sitting outside and admiring the beauty he had nurtured with his own hands.

Emilio cherished his morning walks through Bear Creek Park. He took great pride in singing with the Trevisani nel Mondo choir, where his love of music and Italian heritage found harmony.

Emilio was an avid sports enthusiast — no matter the sport, if there was a game on, he was watching. Family dinners were among his happiest moments, especially when accompanied by his home-made wine and home-grown radicchio.

Emilio nurtured not only his garden. but also the hearts of those around him, with compassion, warmth, and a quiet resilience. His strength and positivity will live on in all of us. We love you deeply. We miss you dearly. Your memory lives in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada at prostatecanada.ca in Emilio’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

We are sharing the funeral information for another of our Trevisani member.

Rino Gazzola
13 April, 1935 – 8 May, 2025

Born in 1935 In Riese Pio X. The home of Pope Pius the 10th. Grew up through the second world war, and lost a few family members because of it. When he was old enough, he went to Switzerland and worked on a ranch there, to earn enough money to emigrate to Canada in 1954.

He landed in Montreal, went to Immigration, and got a job the next day working in construction.

He did that for a while, until he landed a job on the CPR train, that travelled across Canada.

He wound up settling in Winnipeg.

He was there for 10 months, when on his first winter there he nearly froze his ears off. That was enough for him to leave, and finally settling down in Vancouver, while still working for the CPR.

Once in Vancouver he transferred to the CPR Ferries. While working there he met my mom, (Paula), and got married. I, Mark Gazzola, came along in 1958. Rino quit the CPR, and went into Structural steel construction, which wound him up working on the second narrows bridge. However the day of the tragic collapse, he didn’t go into work that day. My mom was an RN, and specialized in home care, so an opportunity came along to get work in Seattle working on the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge over lake Washington, where one of my mom’s clients lived. In order for my dad to work in the US he had to get a guarantee from someone who would vouch for him.

My mom’s client put up an $80 K bond so he could work there.

That turned out to be a very big money maker for him, until Uncle Sam came knocking wanting him to join the army.

That wasn’t going to happen, so we came back to Canada. My dad got a job working for the City of Vancouver, Water Works Department, and worked there till the late 60’s. My mom passed in 1968, so he opened an electronics store on West Broadway, did well with it, and sold the business around 1970.

He then went into Heavy machinery operation, driving big bulldozers and excavation machinery, for about a year and a half.

That is when he got a job working for Seaspan working on tugs up the coast, the Harbour, and River.

He worked there until he retired in 1996.

In 1975 he met my second mom, (Marie), and they moved out to Surrey, and that is where they have stayed till this day. Marie passed in 2019, so he has been on his own since then. His one desire was to never having to go into a home, and that is the way things worked out.

Maria Loschi, born on June 26, 1929, in the picturesque town of Treviso, Italy, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 95. At the time of her passing, Maria resided in Cloverdale, where she was a cherished member of the community.

Maria led a life rich in love, family, and culinary passion. She was a moderately religious woman with a steadfast belief in Christianity, a faith that guided her through life’s journey. In her early years, Maria married the love of her life, Giuseppe Loschi, with whom she built a beautiful family. Together, they raised three children, and Maria's legacy continues through her three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who fondly remember her warmth and wisdom.

Her professional life was equally fulfilling, as Maria dedicated her career to her passion for cooking. She worked as a chef in three family-owned restaurants, where her culinary creations brought joy and nourishment to many. Her love for food and family was evident in every dish she prepared, leaving a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of experiencing her cooking.

Beyond her professional achievements, Maria found joy in her hobbies, particularly bowling and knitting. These activities brought her closer to friends and family, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Maria is survived by her loving daughter, Loredana and son Lorenzo who, along with the entire family, will continue to honor Maria's memory and uphold the values she cherished.
A viewing will be held on May 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ocean View, located at 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC. A celebration of Maria's life, followed by her burial, will take place on May 7 at 10:00 AM.

In closing, as the Italian saying goes, "May you live cent'anni," a wish for a life of 100 years. Maria, you almost made it. May you rest in peace with Dad, Daniela, and all the Loschi and Zanatta family members who have gone before you. Your spirit and love will remain in our hearts forever.

"Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace"
