What is Killarney Key Club? Each year we come up with some new and creative ways to benefit the community. We can fund raise money for organizations such as the Make A Wish Foundation, BC Children's Hospital to buy new toys or fundraise money for group trips like the District Conventions in Seattle (May 23-25, 2012). We'll also be doing service projects, such as making and donating school kits/ coloring books, holding Christmas present giveaways for the homeless, anything! The possibilities are endless. What do we do for the world? Major Emphasis projects are projects done by Key Clubs all over the world. It includes: March of Dimes, Children's Miracle Network, UNICEF and Project Eliminate. Project Eliminate focuses on raising money to eliminate Neonatal Tetanus from the world. It currently affects babies by infections at birth and causes repeated convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light. The district project this year is the Kiwanis Children Cancer Program. This probably seems like a heavy workload, but the work and projects are spread out thoughout the year and as long as we keep up with a few fundraisers and service projects and HAVE TONS OF FUN, these goals will be met :)
And of course the most important thing, building lots of fun and long-lasting friendships and values :)
There are approximately 250,000 key clubbers, 5000 clubs and Key Club is represented in 30 different countries.
