Thank you Gordon Neighbourhood House! Air Quality is currently pretty bad in the Westend due to wildfire smoke. π
π Breathing techniques can be a helpful way to manage stress. Try taking a slow breath in to the count of 8, and then exhale slowly, to the count of 8. Try to repeat this 10 times. Slow breathing is known to calm the nervous system and it might help you think more clearly. If you're concerned about inhaling particulate matter, be sure to practice this breathing technique indoors or in public buildings with good ventilation systems!
π Throughout the day, take a moment to notice how you feel. If you're dizzy, short of breath, or experiencing high anxiety, you can call 8-1-1 to get free health information and advice. HealthLink BC is a service available to everyone in British Columbia.
π Take the very best care during these smoky conditions. Eventually the sky and air quality will return to normal.
