"Life can be painful. Suffering is optional"
+++++"Rolfing" is the nickname that many clients and practitioners gave this work, and is now a Registered Service Mark in 27 countries. Rolfing has an unequaled and unprecedented ability to dramatically alter a person's posture and physical structure.
Research has demonstrated that Rolfing creates a more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement. Research has also shown that Rolfing significantly reduces chronic stress, pain and changes in body structure.
The way we walk, sit, talk on the phone, work on the computer, carry our children, bend, lift, exercise -- as well as accidents and injuries, can cause compensations and contractions. Over time, these daily, habitual patterns of poor posture and restricted movement create, aches, pains and gradual loss of function and flexibility. Gradually, shoulders hunch, the neck droops forward, low back sways, weight shifts off balance. and begins to accumulate in specific areas. This process often occurs over a long period of time and typically, we don't notice until we hurt, feel tight or begin to feel our "age".
Chronically contracted muscles become tight, hard and dense. The available range of motion in the joints is restricted and begins to diminish. This loss of flexibility, which has proven a major factor in how people age; can cause aches and pains to become more common and frequent. Vitality and spontaneity diminish, breathing and circulation can become sluggish.
The body's structural flexibility and changeability is due to its web-like network of connective tissue called fascia. Fascia encompasses and weaves throughout the entire body. Applying appropriate, sensitive and skillful manipulation, A Rolfer's hands create the necessary pressure and warmth that reorganizes this tissue. As the fascia becomes more malleable, the Rolfer is able to renew the symmetry and integration of all your body's parts into a natural and cohesive unit.
"For over 40 years, I have helped thousands of men, women and children with a wide variety of problems, both chronic and acute. Rolfing techniques have been an effective tool for sciatica, sprains, strains, whiplash, migraines, loss of range of motion, joint pain and stiffness, and a variety of injuries, etc"
Rolfing can make a real difference - it did for me. At 20, (feeling 60), I was a physical wreck and recommended for spinal surgery. Rolfing was the only therapy that restored and improved normal function and eliminated daily pain and stiffness. I can now do things I couldn't do in my 20's and I have no pain
Are you caught in the treatment void - you're not a surgical candidate and other methods have produced little or no results, and you're still in pain?
Rolfing is not massage, it is not chiropractic, it is not physiotherapy. It is it's own science and method for reorganizing, relieving and restructuring the human body
Manual Therapeutics is a hands-on and educational approach to relieving trauma, stress, aches and pains, both chronic and acute. Integrating the body/mind connection, we are able to both visual assess and determine core patterns and imbalances leading to misalignment and loss of normal range of motion and movement. The primary medium for treatment is the connective tissue (fascia) system and its relationship to the entire body. Fascia encompasses and weaves throughout the
body and is responsible for supporting the organs, muscular system, and provides its general shape. Healthy fascia lubricates and provides proper alignment, balance and range of motion of the musculature and the body as a whole.
This is why we work with the concept of “don’t chase the pain”. Our goal is not solely focused on the relief of aches and pains, but complete resolution of the issues whenever possible. Client and practitioner work together as an interactive team, both in treatment, as well as in the education and understanding of their own individual bodies, physical health options and better habits for long-term improvement and comfort. Our approach to treatment is on an individual need basis. We are not a “car wash” for bodies. We do not work in a closed system. We utilize a wide variety of treatment modalities in order to access and isolate the true source of the issue. To get to the “heart” of the matter. The treatments are applicable for all age ranges, infant to the elderly.
We are all individuals with our own physical histories and experiences, but we are all human beings governed by the same laws of nature. When the body is in proper postural alignment and structural balance, there is greater ease of movement and function. We become more of an integrative whole and not just an accumulation of separate parts. This is the very best scenario for longevity, vitality and a youthful state of mind and body.
