Talking about addiction is an incredibly difficult subject; talking about the outcomes of an addiction is an even more difficult topic, and often a scary one. This animation really well illustrates what the walk of someone struggling with an addiction can look like.

At first, this animated short seems rather pleasant: A kiwi encounters a golden nugget, and upon consuming it, feels a glorious sense of bliss. But as the bird continues to chase that first high, things quickly turn dark.

What do you think about Meghan Trainor's views about having the "strength" to be anorexic?

Being an anorexic isn't about "strength" at all, it's about being so tormented by your own mind you believe you need to starve yourself to achieve an unattainable goal (different for everyone).

Demi Lovato's rebuttals are well worded and speak true to someone who has struggled with an eating disorder.

While I agree that children see more than is often age appropriate on television, there isn't as many references or scenes showing blatant self mutilation. Especially in the toddler and children's television world!
This store owner saying that a toy depicting blatant self mutilation is suitable for 5-8 year olds because they "see it on tv every day", is outright astoundingly wrong.

I often think about what I'm doing - or not - for others. It's so easy to forget that every aspect of our lives affects those around us wether we want it to or not; I find it a constant struggle to be sure my life affects everyone positively.

Here and Now is 1 year old tomorrow... Wow. It's been a huge year and there have been many many learning curves, a lot of laughs, and great achievements for everyone. This is what we can do for others, this organization is my dream of doing for others what I wish had been done for me, and I love it so much.

Think a moment about what you are doing for others.

A year ago, I didn't think I would be making any difference or change in the world. Today I head to UBCO in Kelowna for a second semester of guest lectures... Once again the undergraduate Psychopathology Class, and this time round I have been invited to speak to two second year Clinical Psychology Graduate Classes as well..... It's such an honour to be able to speak about my own lived experience.
