If you are looking for "pure" Magnesium "Bisglycinate", you should know this:
**** Labels that say Magnesium Bisglycinate "200mg Pure" is misleading ****
Why?
Because the 200mg refers to magnesium only. If you look at the ingredients listed, it says "magnesium bisglycinate (~76%) AND magnesium oxide (~24%)".
In other words, only about 730mg is bisglycinate. Since magnesium bisglycinate is made up of ~14% magnesium, that means only about 100mg magnesium is derived from bisglycinate. Why is this information important?
As shown earlier, the oxide form has very poor absorption rate, so you're basically paying for nothing. Because of this poor absorbability, some people use it as a laxative.
My take on this? If you want "pure" bisglycinate, look at the label and make sure it lists ONLY magnesium bisglycinate as the active ingredient. The magnesium content ranges from 99mg to 120mg. There is no 200mg from magnesium bisglycinate on the market at this time because the molecule is too big to fit 1,460mg of magnesium bisglycinate in a 00 capsule.
