Avast there matey! While you’re enjoying the b***y from tonight’s treating, avoid the bilge with these fair tips:

1. Sugar freezes your immune cells making you more susceptible to viral infections. To unfreeze them, supplement with vitamin C (take it to bowel tolerance - in other words, as high as you can without needing a trip to the heads).

2. Fill yer mug with immune strengthening herbs to stimulate your immune system. Usnea, thyme and echinacea are all great. But better yet, ask one of our NDs to custom blend a toddy just for you - it doesn’t get better than your own signature drink.

3. Support your microbiome and ensure you’re taking your good quality probiotics at the right dose for you.

4. Walk your own plank and cold plunge! The best effects for immune stimulation are when you alternate hot and cold, and your shower is the perfect place. Really warm, pure cold. Repeat 2-3 times and end on cold. May feel like you’re being fed to the sharks, but it’s a powerful way to feel truly alive!

5. Go to bed on time. Your mother told you this too. Nothing fancy about this one mate.

Just finished this fantastic read by a fellow WestEnder, Kaylee Miller. The story is situated right here in Vancouver, which makes it all the more compelling. This is the first in Kaylee’s trilogy, and having thoroughly enjoyed it, I am so looking forward to the second!

The author warns her readers, however, that her books dig into some dark themes. If while reading them you find yourself triggered in any way, please reach out to the clinic for support. We have a fantastic RCC at DCIM, Anna MacGillivray, who has a wealth of experience working with trauma of various kinds. Although a story may seem innocuous, it can be a powerful channel for unearthing deep things within us.

🔥 Fire cupping with Breno!! I just had my first cupping treatment and am so excited to see what the after effects are. As a swimmer and yoga fan, my upper back and arms are really important to the exercise I love, and I can’t wait to see how fire cupping helps to shift muscle tension and soreness.

Apparently, the darker the circle, the greater Qi and Blood stagnation was present (this is what causes muscle tension and pain, from a TCM perspective). Given the colour of these circles, I anticipating greater fluidity and flexibility in my movements - I can’t wait!

🐾 This is Zoom. He was Karen’s eyes for many years but he retired early in the Pandemic. Border closures at the time affected supplies for many of us, but for Karen, these closures meant a complete block of her access to sight.

The main training school for Seeing Eye Dogs is in the States, and the process for pairing a dog and their human is extensive. Already a challenging process, the waitlists grew ever longer over the Pandemic and Karen has been ever patient in her goal for a new dog to be her eyes.

Today she heads off to meet her new match, and if all goes well, we will have a new 4-legged colleague at the clinic and we can hardly wait!! 🤞
