UBC Pharmacy Rho Chi Society

UBC Pharmacy Rho Chi Society Pharmacy's Honor Society at UBC Rho Chi is an exclusive National Honor Society that is recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

Rho Chi was founded at the University of Michigan in 1922. Currently, Rho Chi has over 120 chapters in both Canada and the United States. In April 2009, the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences established the Delta Gamma Chapter, making it the first and only Canadian Chapter. Our mission is to promote lifelong leadership and intellectual achievements that will help advance the pharmacy profession. Rho Chi offers several scholarships to encourage research in pharmacy and instill the desire to pursue academic excellence within its members. Past Rho Chi members and advisors within our Faculty include Dr. Robert Sindelar, previous Dean of the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Dr. Kishor Wasan, current Dean of the University of Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. Our current Rho Chi Faculty Advisors are the distinguished Dr. Mary Ensom and Dr. Arun Verma. By providing opportunities to get involved with community outreach or research, offering educational workshops, and organizing fundraising events for charities, our Rho Chi Chapter endeavors to enrich both the academic and non-academic aspects of student life in our Faculty. Students who rank in the top 20% of their class over their first two years in the Pharmacy Program are invited to join Rho Chi in the Fall of their 3 rd Year.

PEAC and Rho Chi Honor Society will be hosting another Journal Club event virtually on Monday, March 24th.

Our special guest lecturer, Dr. Procyshyn, will be presenting and appraising the following paper:

“A Randomized, Open‐Label, Multiple‐Dose, Parallel‐Arm, Pivotal Study to Evaluate the Safety, Tolerability, and Pharmacokinetics of Aripiprazole 2‐Month Long‐Acting Injectable in Adults With Schizophrenia or Bipolar I Disorder.”

Join us in making a difference at this year’s Pi Day Fundraiser, hosted by the Rho Chi Honour Society at UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences! ✨ 🥧 ✨

This exciting event brings together faculty and students for a friendly competition, where the nominee with the most donations earns the chance to throw a pie on March 14, 2025. All proceeds go directly to BC Children’s Hospital, supporting specialized care for children across the province. Your contribution, big or small, helps push the boundaries of pediatric care, ensuring young patients receive the best possible treatment. Hello everyone! Rho Chi is pleased to announce a blood drive on December 11th. A shuttle bus will depart from the Pharmacy Building at noon, or you may choose to meet us directly at the Oak Street Donation Center. We have six slots reserved under our name, and we encourage you to book your appointment using the instructions below. The process takes just a few minutes. Should you have any questions, please feel free to private message us.

This event is open to everyone! Please ensure you book your slot by December 6th; any unreserved slots will be made available to the general public. If there is a high level of interest, we will arrange for additional slots.

Participating in this blood drive is a wonderful opportunity to save lives and make a significant impact during the upcoming holiday season.
