Navigating baby sleep was hands down one of my biggest postpartum challenges.

We coslept from the day we brought him home from the hospital until 6 months. I genuinely loved every minute of it - until it turned into 10+ wake ups, split nights, and brutal early mornings.

After weeks of hoping things would improve, we finally made the leap and transitioned him to his crib and his own room. It was rough. (I may or may not have slept on his nursery floor for a full month.)

Nothing divides moms more than the words “sleep training”, but after weeks of both of us too cranky to function, I knew we needed to try something different. I also never thought I’d cosleep. But here we are, I did both.

I scoured the internet, read a few books, even had ChatGPT write me a custom plan... and still felt totally lost.

We ended up working with Rosalie from and it was the BEST decision we made. She was so genuinely caring, flexible, attentive, and knowledgable. Instead of gathering 50 different ideas from instagram “experts”, an actual evidenced based healthcare professional gave me a detailed guide on exactly what we needed to do. I was blown away with her constant check ins and understanding when we needed to pivot approach.

Now, I can lay my son down in his crib and walk out while he falls asleep on his own. He wakes just 1–3 times for quick feeds and settles right back to sleep. I never thought we’d get here. For those that messaged me asking if I’d share what we did, it was mainly discontinuing nursing to sleep, cribside comforting, checking in at 3-5 minute intervals, and staying consistent.

Our sleep journey taught me a valuable lesson about motherhood. To remain open, listen to my gut, and ignore the pervasive mom judgement.

Postpartum is a humbling time. It has taught me so much about myself and how I can better show up for my patients. Sending so much love to those that are navigating the messiness of baby sleep and postpartum!

As a tea lover☕️ (but also a hormone balance girly), I’m always sad when I reach my daily limit of caffeine I know my body can tolerate. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard about .off decaf matcha.

They were kind enough to send me a package to try and I am beyond impressed. It’s ceremonial grade matcha from Japan that’s tested for heavy metals, pesticides, and radiation. And it tastes exactly like the delicious matcha I’m used to🌱.

Green tea is amazing for your body and hormones. The antioxidants mop up inflammation, it helps stabilize blood sugar, supports estrogen metabolism, and modulates the stress response. All without the cortisol spiking, anxiety spurring caffeine.

Having a late afternoon or evening matcha is such a dream come true. Will definitely be placing more orders in the near future🤍.

I have officially finished my fourth trimester! So here is a (very detailed) blog post on how I survived it! I’ve included tips for physical and mental health, my favorite newborn essentials, resources local to Vancouver, and a ton of what I learned about newborn sleep and breastfeeding (two of the hardest things I encountered postpartum!).👶🏻

Hope you like it🤍

⁣Hi! A little bit late, but as per my yearly tradition, I’d like to start the year by introducing myself. My name is Allison and I’m an acupuncturist and integrative health practitioner based out of Vancouver, BC. My sun is in Aries, my rising is Gemini, and my moon is in Cancer. I’m a water rooster in Chinese astrology. I am a cat mom. I have 2 tattoos. I am an art/architecture school drop out. I’ve lived in Chicago, Baltimore, New York City, and Montreal. I’ve been living in Vancouver for 10 years now. I got married when I was 22. My DJ name is DJ TCM (I DJed a dance party once like 7 yrs ago). Tea over coffee any day. I hate any form of exercise but still force myself to do it. I’m a classically trained pianist. I’ve been an acupuncturist for 8 years and I love it with my whole being. I’m currently on maternity leave but can’t wait to go back to work. I’ve been a mom for exactly 3 weeks now and it’s quite an amazing adventure! I love everything holistic health but balance out the crunchy side of me with evidenced based science and research. Periods and hormones are my jam and I never get tired of learning more about them. I’m very type A and hyperproductive but I’m trying to lean into more yin time/a slower pace this year. My favorite color is taupe. I got engaged to my husband the day after we met. I met Bjork once when I worked in fashion in NYC for about 3 months. I’m not a very outdoorsy person (I’ve never been camping) but I do try to get in some good nature time every once in awhile. I read a lot. I have a very small family and I’ve always been the weird one. I’m entering 2025 on such a different note than usual but I can’t wait to see what this year brings!⠀

Happy new year, friends! 🎉What do we have in common? 👀

I thought this might be helpful for some people because I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the various things I did to support my pregnancy. Was somehow able to write this in the fog of newborn life! Link in bio for my blog or head to my stories for the direct link!⠀

Milo Cruz was born Dec 18th, 2024 at 2:31pm in a very speedy and intense labour! Less than 8 hours from first contraction to him being born. He was 7.26 pounds and 19.5in. We’re both doing wonderfully and my husband and I are so in love🥰

Couldn’t have done it without my incredible partner, midwife Annie from and my doula .doula

If you know anything about me as a practitioner it’s that I’m on your case about how much protein you’re eating😅.

Getting enough protein is SO important for stable mood, energy, blood sugar, and hormones🧬.

I typically tell my patients to aim for at least 20 but ideally 30g of protein🥩 with each meal. That can be a bit hard to picture so here is an easy guide!

👉 If you’re looking for more support with diet, comment ✨”hormone diet”✨ to get the link to my Eating for Hormone Balance ebook which is on sale for 2 more days only!!

So many things pass through your mind when you get that positive pregnancy test, it can be really overwhelming 🤯 - even if it’s something you’ve been wanting for awhile!

Because it feels like such a big deal (and it definitely is!), it feels like there should be immediate attention on that little, rapidly growing bundle of cells.

But to most people’s surprise, there really isn’t much to do those first few weeks. There will be some blood work and an ultrasound eventually, but the first trimester is basically lots of wondering and waiting.

So the above slides are a few things to expect in your first trimester! Of course, if you have questions or concerns about anything, always reach out to your doctor.

☝️ But this is also where having a fertility acupuncturist or naturopath can come in handy👩🏻‍⚕️. We can give you more handholding🤝 and support through this critical and anxiety-provoking time!

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re looking for more support🤍
