My patient with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, post–foot surgery, was experiencing discomfort. I provided education on how feet change after surgery and with age. Upon assessing her footwear and orthotics, I found her orthotics were too narrow on one side and her shoe toe box was not accommodating her toes properly. She had been told she was already in the widest shoe available, but a second opinion confirmed otherwise, and she has since ordered a more appropriate wider shoe.

Happy when I can help patients identify the root causes of their foot and toe issues. Grateful that they trust me enough to follow my suggestions.

This client recently switched to a more rigid shoe, which created a pressure point on her third toe. Her shoes fit well, but her toes were curling and increasing pressure—putting her at higher risk for calluses > ulcers and infection as a diabetic.
I custom-made a toe crest to lift her toes so they no longer hit the bottom of her shoe with each step, reducing pressure and protecting her foot health. I see her every 7 weeks for preventative care, and will let you know how well this crest worked.
