Together We Can Drug & Alcohol Recovery & Education Society

Together We Can Drug & Alcohol Recovery & Education Society TWC’s mission is to educate and support individuals who struggle with the challenges of addiction. Thank you for your generous support.

Together We Can Addiction Recovery & Education Society was founded in 1993 and since then has become one of Canada’s leading treatment centres for men. Located in Metro Vancouver, TWC’s mission is to educate and support men and families who struggle with the challenges of substance misuse, and desire a new life in recovery. TWC provides over 200 men with abstinence-based recovery programs and supportive housing opportunities in a therapeutic residential setting. Our addiction recovery programs, transitional housing, and aftercare initiatives provide residents with an integrated approach to rehabilitation. Together We Can understands that long-term recovery is most successful when people are provided health and wellness supports for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. TWC is a licensed healthcare service provider through Vancouver Coastal Health, and is well established as a reputable destination where men can truly begin to create change in their lives and rebuild their family relationships. As a registered charity, we are dedicated to building positive community relationships with Families, Donors, Partners, and Government. Together, we can continue to make a difference in our community.

We’re proud to share that the Together We Can – Miklat Recovery Arbutus Expansion Project is complete! What started as a dream has become a 12-bed recovery program that will change lives in qathet/Powell River for years to come.

A huge thank you to our incredible staff, residents, tradespeople, volunteers, funders, and community partners who made this vision a reality. Your support transformed an old firehall into a space of hope and healing.

We also want to recognize the Tla’amin Nation, on whose traditional lands we live and work — we’re honoured to be your neighbours and partners on this journey.

Special thanks to Steve and his team from SimpleChef Food Services for providing the delicious food at our celebration.

Louis just hit 2 years of sobriety! 🌟 Two years of strength, focus, and determination—an inspiring milestone on his journey. Congrats Louis!

Louis shared this message with us: "Today marks two years of continuous sobriety for me. No co***ne, no alcohol, no nothing. Today I can’t help but to reflect on how things used to be two years ago. I was completely addicted, completely lost, completely hopeless, completely broke and completely bankrupt, spiritually. I didn’t recognize myself anymore, I couldn’t believe the things I had done and where I had gotten to. I was filled with despair, guilt, shame and dread for my future. I checked myself into detox again with no idea what I’d do next. It turned out that this time, something clicked. I got into treatment again, I found the fellowships, I checked myself into a sober living house and through it all, I dedicated every once of strength and willingness I had to my recovery. I followed the suggestions of those who came before me, I went to meetings, worked the steps, I changed my social circles and most of all, I began working with others in my situation.

Today on thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for in my life now. So much that I couldn’t possibly believe I could have two years ago. I have grown more in the last two years than I had in the last two decades and most of all, I’m happy for and proud of the person in the mirror again. Thank you to everyone who stuck by me and didn’t give up on me when things got really bad. I couldnt have done this without you!

I’m sharing this today not for me but for everyone still out there struggling. I see you. I’ve been where you are and I know what you’re up against. I know how impossibly hard it is to not use anymore. But you can put an end to it. There is a path out and I believe in you. But you can’t do it alone. You just have to surrender and ask for help. I’ll be here whenever you’re ready."
