Together We Can Drug & Alcohol Recovery & Education Society TWC’s mission is to educate and support individuals who struggle with the challenges of addiction. Thank you for your generous support.

Together We Can Addiction Recovery & Education Society was founded in 1993 and since then has become one of Canada’s leading treatment centres for men. Located in Metro Vancouver, TWC’s mission is to educate and support men and families who struggle with the challenges of substance misuse, and desire a new life in recovery. TWC provides over 200 men with abstinence-based recovery programs and supportive housing opportunities in a therapeutic residential setting. Our addiction recovery programs, transitional housing, and aftercare initiatives provide residents with an integrated approach to rehabilitation. Together We Can understands that long-term recovery is most successful when people are provided health and wellness supports for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. TWC is a licensed healthcare service provider through Vancouver Coastal Health, and is well established as a reputable destination where men can truly begin to create change in their lives and rebuild their family relationships. As a registered charity, we are dedicated to building positive community relationships with Families, Donors, Partners, and Government. Huge congratulations on 7 years, Alex! 🎉 Your strength, dedication, and perseverance are truly inspiring. 💙✨

Alex shared this powerful message with us:
"There was a time when substance use had pulled me far from who I truly was. Reaching out for help wasn’t easy — but walking into Together We Can was one of the most important decisions of my life. They supported me when I couldn’t fully support myself. They reminded me that recovery takes honesty, hard work, and the courage to trust others again. It wasn’t always comfortable, but it was worth it.
Through recovery, I learned to sit with my emotions, rebuild trust, and rediscover my authentic self — not the version shaped by fear, but the one grounded in growth, integrity, and purpose. I am deeply grateful for the support I received. Recovery is possible. And sometimes the strongest thing we can do is ask for help."

“Eight years ago, I made a decision that changed my life… Today is a gift, and I’m grateful to celebrate 8 years of sobriety.”

A huge shout-out to proud TWC alumni, Kevin, who recently marked this incredible milestone: 8 years of recovery and a life rebuilt with purpose, connection, and service to others. Today, he dedicates himself full-time to helping people who are struggling through his work with TWC and Crossing the Threshold, passing forward the same hope and support that once guided him on his journey. Kevin, your story proves that recovery is possible, and that one life transformed can inspire countless others.

Congratulations on 8 amazing years!

💙 Things We Wish People Knew About Treatment

Recovery isn’t about punishment or blame—it’s about care, healing, and support. The people in treatment are our neighbours, friends, and family—everyday people working to rebuild their lives.

Strong community support makes a difference. When people get the help they need, we all benefit from safer, healthier, and more connected neighbourhoods.

We are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge. Our hearts are with the individuals, families, and first responders impacted during this incredibly difficult time.

In moments like this, community matters more than ever. Please hold one another close, check in on your neighbours, and reach out for support if you need it. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out, you are not alone. 🍁

“TWC showed me a better way to live. Never give up—even when times get hard, it’s not worth going back. Stay the course and give back; a higher power will guide you.

I lost my mother 16 days into rehab, and I knew I had to stay and make her proud. I never looked back—just focused on my service, and here I am today. First time in treatment, and still going strong. Thank you, T-Dub, for showing me the way.”

Congratulations to Alex on 13 years of sobriety! 🙌

Thirteen years of resilience, service, and staying the course—through unimaginable loss and unwavering faith. Thank you for sharing your story and reminding us that recovery is always worth protecting. We’re so proud to celebrate this milestone with you.

Recovery isn’t always about rock bottom or major breakthroughs. Sometimes it’s about the middle—when life is better, but it still feels heavy or uncertain.

Our latest blog — written by David Penny — explores “the sober middle” and the quiet, often unspoken challenges that can show up along the way. If you’ve ever felt stuck, restless, or wondering “is this all there is?” — you’re not alone.

Recovery circles often talk about the “pink cloud” — that early phase of sobriety where everything feels new, bright, and full of promise…

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our friend Greg. A valued member of the Together We Can family, Greg was always cheerful, kind, and ready to lend a helping hand. A TWC alumnus who gave back, he was a dependable support on our maintenance team and contributed to countless projects.

Above all, Greg was a son, a father, and a grandfather, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory live on within our community, and may the impact he made continue to echo. During this time, we encourage anyone who is struggling or grieving to reach out for support—we are stronger when we support one another.
