If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t move your body much, this message is for you.
During the last week, I have heard from 4 of my clients of someone they know passing away. Ages from 35 to 55. All health related, from cardiac arrest to cancer.
We don't know when our life will be taken away, but I am sure those numbers could be delayed to 80+ with adjustments in lifestyle.
Do you wash your face and brush your teeth every day? Why?... Because doing it only once doesn't last! The same goes with your health and body shape. If you don't maintain it, it doesn't last!
You don’t need a gym membership, fancy equipment, or feeling motivated right now. What you DO need is movement. Movement is essential for your overall health and well-being. In our technology-driven world, it’s easy to fall into sedentary habits – sitting at a desk, lounging on the couch, or scrolling endlessly through our phones. But behind our bodies’ natural design is a basic truth: we are made to move. Without movement, your body will begin to deteriorate long before your life is even halfway lived. Stiffness will turn into chronic pain. Fatigue will develop into more serious health issues. Laziness, if left unchecked, can lead to regret and lost opportunities for a fuller, healthier life.
Movement isn’t just a physical activity - it’s medicine. It clears your mind, strengthens your spirit, and revitalizes your body, helping you stay alive, alert, and engaged. But here’s the truth: accountability is key. No one is going to do this for you. You must hold yourself responsible for showing up, even when it’s hard or ugly. Make a commitment to yourself that moving, no matter how small, is a non-negotiable part of your day.
My first trainer was known for telling us every class "training is like brushing your teeth - you cannot miss it!" Make the same rule for yourself. Set reminders, tell someone you trust, ask someone you know to keep you on track or keep a journal - find what works for you to stay accountable.
Don’t wait for a dramatic wake-up call or a health scare to finally realize you need to act. Start now. Even if it’s just 1 minute, even if it looks messy or uncomfortable. Move as if your life depends on it - because, honestly, it does. Your future self will thank you for every effort you make today to stay active and accountable.
