A few wonderful folks from The Art Studios came by our office today to chat and bring a few pieces to display on our walls. They offer an amazing service to the community: access to the healing power of art through free art classes for people with a mental health diagnosis. Come by the office to say hi and see their paintings, Tuesday - Friday from 9:30AM to 4PM. If you want to get in touch with The Art Studios and ask about registration, call 604-558-3394 or send an e-mail to theartstudios @ mdabc.net

"Physical activity can be as effective as some more common treatments for depression, such as psychotherapy or antidepressants..." states Dr. Ron Remick, Clinical Director with MDABC, the mental health branch of Lookout. Research behind the connection of exercise and mental health treatment is what lead Dr. Remick to pioneer the Jump Step program, one of MDABC's innovative programs for mental health. An important new resource being launched by BCcampus - first of its kind, provincially approved peer support worker training curriculum that’s been guided and evaluated by existing peer support organizations and people with lived experience in the province.

For over two decades, MDABC has maintained a wide range of peer-led support groups throughout BC for people with mental health challenges. For this project, we updated our peer facilitator training manual and presentation, added culturally safe content, and created a set of videos covering our entire peer facilitator training course.
