Trends in wait times for scheduled surgeries in British Columbia: An analysis of the period 2009–2022 suggests that small hospitals had the shortest wait times and that the demand for surgery was greatest in small hospitals, rural communities, and the Interior Health Authority. In May, physicians and professionals from the Committee’s Adverse Childhood Experiences working group—part of the Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Community of Practice—spent a day discussing trauma-informed practices with Surrey Police Service officers, civilian staff, and other community organizations.

Through understanding how trauma presents itself and what steps to take to prevent further traumatization, police officers can offer even more compassionate support to vulnerable community members, fostering understanding and patience during interactions.
