Dear Friend,
It's my honour to invite you to a unique historical gathering. Here is the date, location and essence...
Conscious Cannabis: Leadership Symposium
Fri-Sat, June 7-8, 2019
Liu Institute for Global Issues,
University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC.
The first Conscious Cannabis: Leadership Symposium is an unsponsored, non-commercial, small gathering (max 50) of committed leaders -elders, guides, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, neuroscientists, business leaders, patient advocates and students - meeting to begin collaborating and planting seeds for an old/new culture around the meme of "conscious cannabis" - a deep, wholistic appreciation of the Sacred Herb.
Conscious Cannabis: Leadership Symposium is intended and designed to be inspirational and practical, to clarify a vision and to collaborate towards that vision.
To clarify, the meme of "Conscious Cannabis" includes the medical and recreational gifts, but focuses on cannabis' mind-expanding, heart-opening and body (and soil!) enlivening capacities to transform people and society.
Instead of focusing on cannabis reactively - as replacement for opioids (medical) or alcohol (recreational) - our focus is proactive, on promoting health and well-being as part of conscious evolution - personal and societal. And, it is very forward-looking ... fully cognizant that the legalization and normalization of Psilocybin, M**A, and all the psychedelics, are coming quickly. Denver, a leading city for cannabis legalization, just decriminalized psilocybin mushrooms.
Is there really a need for such an event, for such a "cultural" leadership group?
Is there a need for a "social innovation" incubator, not for cannabis business but for cannabis culture? One designed, not for profit but for personal and social transformation - at a critical time in human history?
Is there not a need for a cannabis culture shaped not by brand managers and analysts, but by elders and shamans?
Cannabis gatherings now are focused on large-scale growing, or business, or science, or policy.
There are no serious events focused on The High - the blissful, insightful and transformative power of the Herb. Consciousness symposia and psychedelic conferences abound, but they also largely ignore the cannabis experience. So our event, focused on cannabis, consciousness and culture, is unique and historic - necessary and timely.
The participants come from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. The gathering will be structured but spacious, enabling deeper connection and discussion. It will be sharp-minded, soft-hearted and practically focused.
But at it's heart it is a ceremonial gathering to attune to the Herb for guidance and clarity, inspiration and community. We will consciously consume and commune at points of our gathering.
This event aims to strengthen existing efforts and launch new ones.
But at this first meeting we will first get clear on what we mean by "Conscious Cannabis," and how we message it.
Collaborative projects will be explored: a Speakers Bureau, Cannabis Education Week (April 13-20) on college campuses. a college campus speaking tour, a Canadian Centre for Conscious Cannabis research program, Conscious Cannabis Magazine, A Conscious Cannabis Guide School.
Some of the committed leaders participating are:
