Tired of Flat weak feet? Try strengthening them by doing a Unilateral Foot Bridge.

Place two Yoga blocks far enough apart so that your calcaneus bone (heel) and your metatarsophalangeal joint (balls of your feet) are barely sitting atop the blocks as seen in the photo.

Try to to balance on one foot. Go for time, and then do the same on the other foot. If you want, you can also do some reps. While balancing, let you foot collapse (pronate) and then, lift the arch of your foot as high as you can (supinate) while keeping your heel and balls of your foot on the blocks. This will strengthen the arches of your feet by targeting muscles like the posterior tibialis, flexor hallucis longus and brevis. Prompt to lift the arch and keep toes from curling. This will improve your balance and coordination, You may feel the burn in your quads and glutes but specially your calves and foot muscles.
You may use other objects like weight plates, or even books to elevate the heels and balls of the foot.

Give it a try for 30 seconds to a minute, 2-3 times a day. Or if you are doing reps, go for 15 to 20 reps of 3 sets.

This 2014 study examined the impact of lower limb strength, muscle mass, and symmetry on kicking performance in football. Footballers typically develop both a preferred kicking and supporting leg, leading to potential asymmetrical muscle development. This research found that accurate kickers exhibited balanced strength and muscle mass between limbs, whereas inaccurate kickers had significant strength imbalances and asymmetries.

The supporting leg plays a crucial role in stabilizing the body during a kick, and deficiencies in its strength and lean mass may contribute to poor accuracy. Accurate kickers had higher relative strength and lean mass in both limbs, allowing for better control and reduced effort in executing kicks. The study suggests that strength training should prioritize both the kicking and support leg.

While increasing lower-body strength and symmetry can enhance kicking accuracy, technical training remains essential. A combination of strength, power, and skill-based interventions is recommended for optimal performance.

It is important to have both legs equally strong. Thus, this study showed that strength not only affects athletic performances like running and jumping but can also improve sport specific skills like accuracy!

For years, I have been trying to get clients and my athletes to be motivated to work out, and I'll give them tactics to help that. I've learned it's not the forcing of motivation, but the environment I create in the training sessions that will cultivate the conditions to help them motivate themselves.

Here is a guy whose progress went super fast. came to me with an uneven hip, back pain, and a bit of scoliosis. Started with a twice per week session and slowly built up to 3 times a week, including a group training session. While doing some osteopathic work on his hips, his spinal curvature reduced greatly. Once alignment was established, worked on his form and prioritized the big three: squats, deadlifts, and bench press.
Not only as you can see is he looking fit, he is strong, and he may not know it, but he hasn't tapped into his full potential. He is still learning and building up that confidence! All it took was consistency and listening to his coach🤣👍🏼😈
