At 90 years old, Maria has been cooking Italian food longer than most bringing a lifetime of experience and flavour to her dishes. “Enoteca Maria is a place where we invite grandmothers from all over the world in to cook their traditional dishes. Dale Schroeder was just a humble carpenter from Iowa who lived a very simple life. He never married, had no children, and worked in the same company for 67 long years. He owned only two pairs of jeans, one for work and one for church.

But behind this quiet life, Dale was doing something extraordinary. He saved almost $3 million over his lifetime, not for himself, but for others. When he passed away in 2005, his savings were used to send 33 students to college, students who could never afford education otherwise. Today, those students have become doctors, teachers, engineers, and therapists. They proudly call themselves “Dale’s Kids” and carry his legacy forward.

Dale Schroeder proved that you don’t need fame or luxury to change the world, just a big heart and kindness. A true reminder that ordinary people can create extraordinary legacies.
