Struggling to Prioritize Your Health? Here's How to Make Lasting Change

With so many demands on our time and energy, it’s easy to put our health on the back burner. But if you’re ready to make a real change, it all starts with understanding why you want to improve your health in the first place. In my latest newsletter, I dive into the power of purpose—and how it can transform your health goals from wishes into lasting habits.

When meeting a client for the first time I always ask a few questions about their health goals going forward. This helps me determine if their goals are realistic and how they’ve gotten to the point of sitting and talking with me.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Sometimes in life we need to take a good look at our life, our environment and people we surround ourselves with. Certain people radiate positive energy, and others negative energy. But understanding positive and negative energy in others goes much deeper than only feeling the energy that someone gives off.⠀

A person’s energy is a combination of a person’s past, their mindset, their dominant thoughts, and beliefs and their perception of the world. Positive people are loving, happy, compassionate, kind and supportive. You intuitively feel safe, happy and relaxed around them. Their energy is welcoming.⠀

Negative people are judgmental, unhappy (complainers) and they like to put others down. You intuitively feel insecure, unhappy and tense around them. Their vibe can make you feel as if you want to pull away.⠀

The key is to understand that energy has opposites and where there is one type of energy, you can swing the pendulum over to the other side. You have the power to move from negative to positive instantly. ⠀

Here are some tips:⠀

1. Do whatever makes you happy and do more of it!⠀

2. Connect with your mind/body. Listen to your "gut" feelings.⠀

3. Try to see the good in humans. You don't have to let others negativity impact you.⠀

4. Understand that we can control our own energy.

5. Communicate with intention around what can work in a positive way vs. what can go wrong.

Honey I’m home! Ah yes, home is the place where my exhale feels best. It’s also where we nourish our bodies and souls. Some days, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to prepare a healthy meal for the family and this is why I am loving meal delivery services, such as FreshPrep. This Vancouver based company uses high quality, fresh ingredients--local and organic as much as possible. Did I also mention that the meals are delivered by the nicest people too?!..

What is the very first thing you do when you wake up? Do you check your inbox while still in bed? Do you scroll through to see what your followers are up to? Many of us do this so don't be hard on yourself. If you are feeling constant and stress from this routine why not make a tiny change by integrating a healthy action or "ritual" as I refer to with my clients. Try making one small habit and practice it for two weeks. Maybe it is the practice of a daily mantra, or listen to calming music while you prepare your morning glass of water and coffee. Or, maybe you will try avoiding your emails for 30 minutes while you take the dog for a walk, or cut some fresh flowers. Remember, it does not have to be a big change, to successfully change your behavior, start by setting small goals and aim for a quick win that will help build your confidence or self-efficacy! ✨

Wonder what it is like to work with me? Have a listen to what Lianna Armstrong had to say! 💚

"I connected with Suzanne the moment we met. Her energy is amazing and she is really dedicated to each of her client’s health. As a small business owner, so many daily factors were affecting my overall health; stress, long hours, not making the time to exercise and finding balance with a vegetarian diet. She really helped reel me into a daily plan, healthier choices and helped me gain daily rituals that have benefited me tremendously. It really was an investment in myself and I would recommend her program to anyone looking to take your overall (mental, physical, nutrition) health to the next level. Thank you Suzanne!"

Ok, so I am one step closer to my full blown affair with coconuts!! All of you coconut naysayers take note, in a new study done by the current BBC2 series of Trust Me I'm a Doctor, coconut oil was tested in a human study carried out to test specific health claims. What do you think the results were?... Keep reading below!
-

Background of the study: Every day for four weeks, the first group was asked to eat 50g of extra virgin coconut oil - that's about three tablespoons full. The second group was asked to consume the same amount of extra virgin olive oil, and the third was asked to eat 50g of unsalted butter a day. Before the volunteers started on their new high-fat regime the team took blood samples to get baseline measurements, focusing mainly on their levels of LDL (the "bad" cholesterol) and HDL (the "good" cholesterol).
-
RESULTS: The big surprise was the coconut oil. Not only was there no rise in LDL levels, which was what they were expecting, but there was a particularly large rise in HDL, the "good" cholesterol, up by 15%! On the face of it that would suggest that the people consuming the coconut oil had actually reduced their risk of developing heart disease or stroke.
