Centre for Advancing Health Outcomes Scientist Dr. Annalijn Conklin has has secured over $400,000 in competitive research funding from Diabetes Canada to investigate a critical yet underexplored question: Can social connections help protect against diabetes and its complications? The Centre for Heart Lung Innovation is proud to celebrate the success of Dr. Janice Leung and Dr. Scott Tebbutt, who have received over $1.8 million in funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Fall 2025 Project Grant competition.

Centre for Heart Lung Innovation PhD candidate Zeren Sun gave a talk as part of their ongoing Seminar Series that explored the role cholesterol plays in muscular dystrophy (MD), a condition that causes progressive muscle weakness.

Zeren’s research focused on how imbalances in cholesterol levels, both in the blood and within muscle cells, could contribute to the worsening of MD.
