Ever pick up your phone “just to relax”
…and suddenly 30 minutes are gone? 📱

You’re not alone.

Many people turn to scrolling to unwind or stay informed — but when it becomes constant, especially with distressing or negative content, it can quietly affect your mental health.

Here’s why 👇
Doom scrolling keeps your brain in a state of alert.
Repeated exposure to emotionally charged news can signal your nervous system that danger is near — even when it isn’t.

Over time, this can show up as:

Increased anxiety

Mental exhaustion

Irritability

Sleep difficulties

Feeling emotionally overwhelmed 🧠⚡

What makes it tricky?
It often happens on autopilot. You scroll to decompress… and end up feeling more tense instead.

Awareness is the first step toward change.
Small shifts — like noticing how content affects your mood, setting gentle screen boundaries, or taking intentional breaks — can make a real difference.

At CBT Psychology, we help people understand these patterns and build practical, sustainable strategies to feel more balanced and in control.

💛 If this resonates, save this post or share it with someone who might need it.
💬 Does scrolling help you unwind — or leave you feeling more drained?

When a serious injury happens, the impact is rarely only physical.

A workplace injury, accident, or loss of limb doesn’t just change how the body functions — it can alter identity, independence, confidence, and one’s sense of safety in the world. Research shows that emotional responses such as anxiety, grief, anger, and fear are common — and often overlooked — parts of recovery.

Even when the body begins to heal, the nervous system and mind may still be trying to make sense of what happened.

Psychological support can make a meaningful difference. Therapy helps people process trauma, adapt to change, reduce distress, and rebuild a sense of control and stability — which research shows supports both emotional and physical recovery.

If this resonates with you or someone you care about, support is available. Our clinicians are here to help.

ver feel like you and your partner are speaking — but not connecting?
It’s one of the biggest predictors of distress in relationships: when good intentions turn into frustration, silence, or feeling unseen. Research shows that couples who learn to communicate in ways that build safety and curiosity—not avoidance or defensiveness—strengthen both intimacy and trust.
At CBT Psychology, we help couples:
✨ Shift from reacting to listening
✨ Speak in ways that invite connection
✨ Reduce cycles of blame and withdrawal
You don’t need perfection. You need to learn how to repair.

And repair begins when two people choose connection over conflict.
💬 If communication feels hard, you’re not alone — and change is possible.

Cancer affects more than the body. It reshapes emotions, relationships, identity — and how the future is imagined.
A cancer diagnosis can bring psychological distress at every stage: diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, recurrence fears, and caregiving. Anxiety, grief, exhaustion, and a sense of lost certainty are not signs of weakness — they are human responses to a life-altering experience.
On National Cancer Awareness Day, we recognize the invisible weight many people carry alongside the medical journey. Emotional support isn’t optional — it’s protective. Studies show that psychological care can improve quality of life, coping, and even treatment outcomes.
No one should have to carry this alone.
If you or someone you love has been affected by cancer, our clinicians are here to offer compassionate, evidence-based support — at any stage of the journey.

How do you define progress?

We often think progress means feeling better all the time, having fewer struggles, or finally “getting it right.”
But real progress is usually quieter—and easier to miss.

It might look like:

pausing before reacting

noticing your thoughts instead of getting pulled into them

recovering a little faster after stress

being kinder to yourself on hard days

Progress isn’t linear, and it isn’t about perfection.
It’s about awareness, flexibility, and building skills that support you over time.

Sometimes, progress is simply responding differently than you used to—and that counts.

Curious about what progress could look like for you?

Ever know exactly what you want…
but still feel stuck when it comes time to act?

You’re not lazy. You’re not unmotivated.
And there’s nothing “wrong” with you.

This month’s newsletter explores why intention and action don’t always line up—and what’s actually getting in the way. From mental fatigue and perfectionism to fear of getting it wrong, these blocks are more common (and more human) than we think.

Inside, we share gentle reframes to help you:

- Build momentum even when motivation is low

- Lower pressure without letting go of your goals

- Work with resistance instead of fighting it

Shift your identity toward who you’re becoming because change doesn’t come from forcing yourself forward. It comes from small, consistent actions—and the right support along the way.

Ever wish your mind came with an off switch?
Or that you could focus a little better, feel emotionally grounded, or move through your day with more calm?

That’s exactly what a short, consistent meditation practice can offer.

Mindfulness meditation is a simple way to train your mind to focus more easily, handle emotions with less effort, and respond to stress instead of getting pulled along by it.

It works by gently bringing your attention back to the present moment—again and again. Think of it like training a muscle. Over time, your mind becomes quieter, concentration improves, and those unhelpful thought loops start to lose their grip.

As you learn to notice your thoughts and feelings without judging them, something powerful happens: you create a pause. A small but meaningful space between what you feel and how you react. This is where stress softens, resilience builds, and emotional balance begins.

Curious about how to build this skill into your daily life and start noticing the benefits for yourself?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented, evidence-based treatment that helps you change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours so you can feel better in the present and build skills for lasting mental wellness. In CBT, you and your therapist work collaboratively to identify negative thinking patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and build practical strategies you can apply in everyday life — empowering you to take control of emotional challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, anger, and more. CBT is structured, educational, and focused on helping you achieve your personal goals while increasing self-confidence and resilience.
