Yes to Retinaldehyde....never retinol or retin-A!

The differences between retinol, retin-A, and Retinaldehyde.

Retinol (with an O) can be converted into Retinal (with an A). Retinal is also known as Retinaldehyde. This is 1000x more potent than Retinol. Retinaldehyde can be converted into Retin-A. Retin-A is also known as Retinoic Acid. This is EQUALLY as potent as Retinaldehyde.

This chain may NOT be converted backwards.

Retinaldehyde is a form of Vitamin A that is already stored in your body thus your body accepts and recognizes it. This is not true of Retin-A.

Therefore when you apply Retin-A on your skin, your body will utilize what it can to use it (for example to create collagen) but the excess will simply "sit" on the skin thus damaging it and causing it to be sun sensitizing and irritating.

When you apply Retinaldehyde, however, your skin will use what it needs (for example convert into Retin-A to to create collagen) and the excess will be STORED for future use because your body ALREADY stores and recognizes it. And because Retinaldehyde is EQUALLY as potent as Retin-A and IS NOT irritating as Retin-A, there really is no comparison.

So remember that Retinaldehyde can always convert into Retin-A but Retin-A cannot convert back - thus the excess is nothing more than an IRRITANT and actually DAMAGING to the skin.

Did you know even our smallest units of life—our cells—have their own circadian rhythm and function on a continuous 24-hour day-night cycle? Looking at stem cells specifically, this endogenous, or biological, “clock” regulates the processes of cell division and cell differentiation, providing repair and renewal of tissues and, therefore, may be a key in the aging process. Additionally, most of our cells sync up and follow the same rhythm.

Our bodies, as a whole, function best when they are in tune with their circadian rhythm, and the same can be said for our stem cells. For example artificial lights from our computers and electronics at night are detected through our photosensitive retinal ganglion cells. This slows the secretion of our sleep hormone, melatonin, making it difficult to get to get to sleep or stay asleep and disrupting our circadian rhythm. When our circadian rhythm is disrupted, it doesn't just affect our sleep cycle, it affects our whole body, including your stem cells which can prevent the ability to keep stem cells healthy as you age. While it's long been believed that stem cells lose their circadian rhythm as we age, a new study suggests that they don't lose it, they just reprogram it.
